Prairie Productions

Hi, does anyone have any experience planning a wedding here?  Any likes/dislikes or unexpected surprises?  Thanks!

I really liked the space and the potential to do a lot with it. didn't like the owner's attitude. It's a husband and wife and I spoke to the wife. From what I've heard, she's not as friendly, so just my luck I guess. We ended up not using them. While I don't think my wedding is anymore special than anyone else's, I do expect you to treat me like my business matters, and it just didn't seem like that to her.

Hopefully if you go with them you have better communication. It's a great space

Does anyone have an estimate of the price there? Their website has no info!

We looked there but decided not to go with it simply because we liked Ravenswood better. They're also already pretty booked up for next year but they did have a couple Saturdays open towards the end of the year. I'm pretty sure the rental fee is around $4000.

I love Prairie Production, so gorgeous. It's $4,000 for Saturday and $3,500 for Friday.

I had no problems with the owners and emails were responded to quickly. They do not have a preferred caterer list and you can purchase your own alcohol - these were major pluses for me. However, the money you save there is then spent on renting tables, linens and chairs.

Great space...Michael went out of his way to answer all our questions during a photo shoot he was doing at the same time as our walk through.  It books up over 14 months in advance, so plan early!

Prairie Productions is a great space and I nearly went with them. My experience was that the owners really wanted our business and were very matter of fact about what we were getting for the price - they didn't do a high pressure sales pitch on us. They made it clear that we were paying for empty space that we would fill by contracting with all of the other vendors. That was the only reason that I didn't end up going with them. I loved the room, but didn't want to have to make 100% of the other decisions. If you are OK with finding vendors for everything else - then definitely consider them. It just wasn't the right fit for me. The owners will go out of their way to make sure your event is problem free - in terms of parking and security - they really get it! I think they are a great and unique choice for a modern wedding - give them a real consideration!

My best friend had her wedding there and it was gorgeous!  A great "blank slate".   I'm planning my wedding now and would have loved the space but it's not in our budget.  I refuse to pay $4k for simply the space.   Then remember you need rent everything!  Down to the cookware and ovens that your caterer would use.  It gets very pricey quickly.  But hey, if you can afford it, and don't mind all the planning, it will be a lovely event!
Me: 35/Hubs: 35 - just moved to Minneapolis from Chicago. TTC for 18 months and expecting baby #1 April 18, 2012! Needed IVF after a few failed rounds of IUI and it worked!
