Make up (birthmark) and facial

Hello,

I was thinking about getting a facial before my May wedding and was wondering what people thought of them. I have pretty good skin (no acne or scarring, some blackheads) so was wondering if people thought their skin visibly benefited from this?  If so, what types do you recommend and how far in advance of the big day should I have it done?

I had a makeup question as well.  I have a port wine birthmark on my face.  The couple times I had my makeup done before (for like prom) they put SO MUCH make up on it in an effort to cover it up, that is looked really bad.  I'm not concerned with not being able to see it at all, i'm fine with a little color being visible, but curious if anyone has experience covering something like this up and what type of makeup they found to work best while not looking caked on.

    I have found that a facial helps perk up my skin when it is looking dull and tired.  Since facials can cause blemishes, I would get one at least a week before the wedding.  The esthetician will ask you questions about your skin to determine the best type of facial for you.  If there is a good beauty college near you, you can usually get a good facial for half the price.

    For the birthmark, have you considered using a tattoo cover-up?  Make Up Forever and Kat Von D both make versions of this.

    The facial definitely do at least a week before, maybe even a little sooner than that if you've never had one before, in case you have a weird reaction to it.

    As for the make-up, have you considered getting is airbrushed that da? I didn't get this done (I didn't have the money), but I know quite a few people that have used them to cover acne scarring and things like that and were thrilled with how "perfect" they looked on their wedding day. Also, it apparently feels like you don't have any make-up on at all.
