  I am having mine done for the wedding.  I can be picky about how my makeup looks so don't want to rely on doing it myself.  Have you checked with makeup counters at the local mall?  I wear MAC makeup so I am getting mine done at the counter at 9am on the big day.  They also do a trial run so you can make sure you like it

  I had my makeup done for my first wedding and would have loved to have had it done for my second wedding, but due to the location of our ceremony, having a makeup artist come out would have cost almost a $1000! Didn't seem worth it. For my first wedding, I had a consultation with the makeup artist, showed her pictures, and did a trial run. She recorded all of my wants and colors. So, it was then perfect the day of! For the second, I went to a makeup counter at Saks (it was Chanel, but you could try any of them), and since I was purchasing all new makeup, I worked with the lady to show me how to do certain things and what colors looked best.

  Paid to have the hair done, my sister did my eyes and I did the rest.  Paid for my ladies hair and they did their own make-up.

  I went for a trial at MAC, bought some new things, but did my own; they gave me a chart on how to do it.  We got married where there were no make up artists, so it was fine for me to do it (I practiced a couple of times before hand!)
  

  Don't mess with the old dogs; age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill! BS and brilliance only come with age and experience.

  I did have a makeup and hair stylist come to my home. This was my first marriage, but I might have even done it for a subsequent one.
  
  Ask around on your local board. I was 56 when I got married in August of 2011. I was afraid of how it would look, but the makeup artist did airbrush makeup and I paid extra for the false eyelashes, and was never sorry I did either. The makeup stayed on all day (the lashes lasted for 4 days until I took them off).
  
  Around here for the hair & makeup it was less than $100. I asked myself this question: "If I don't deserve to have this done for my wedding, then when would I?". I think the only other time someone will do my makeup is in my casket (if there is even a viewing, LOL).........so I felt like I deserved to have it done. For me and my BM who also paid for themselves, it was a nice pampered feeling.

  I actually got a referral from Sue (above), and am contracting with the person who did hers to do my airbrushed makeup.I am an older bride. I didn't want the caked on makeup or the red lipstick.  I wasn't sure either, but when I went for the trial, and came home, my fiancee said "OMG, you look fantastic! You are absolutely, positively, SO doing this."  I wasn't sure about spending the money either, but took Sue's words to heart. It is one day that it is worth the extra expense, and he agrees.  SO excited!
