Always the BM and never the bride...

How many times have y'all been BM's, and has it helped you with planning your own?
Were your previous brides obnoxious? What are some things that you did and are doing different?

I was a flower girl once and I've been a bridesmaid 4 times. The only thing I haven't liked is the awful dresses I've had to buy/wear. They were mostly made locally by seamstresses and looked very homemade and cheap to me (even though they were all upwards of $200)! They've gone straight to the Salvation army.

So... I made an appointment at Bella Bridesmaids and got all my girls together to meet each other and pick out the dress together. They tried on lots of dresses and were able to agree on one that they all liked. Some are already planning to wear it again to Mardi Gras balls after the wedding, so I know they all like it!

One thing I love is the tradition of doing a bridesmaid luncheon and giving each girl a piece of jewelry to wear on the wedding day. I plan to do personalized necklaces for them. I also loved that my sister had us come early and get dressed together in the bridal suite. She had a stylist do our hair and the photographer took pictures of us before the wedding. I plan to do that too.

At least 6 times, at least that is how many dresses I had to buy, that I am waiting to have good reasons to wear.  ALWAYS pick something that is multi purpose, otherwise you end up with a $200 dust collector.
