Tell me about your specialty drinks

We're having an open bar and decided to add a tropical drinks selection along with the regular liquor, beer and wine.

Here's what they offer: Mai tai, Blue Hawaii, Chichi, Piña colada, Lava flow.
But we can also make requests!

I'm not a tropical drink type girl but thought since we're in Hawaii our guests might want the choice. Your thoughts would be great! I was thinking of only serving two or three - just to make things simpler. Any of these that you would suggest?

Or tell me what you're serving and get my creative juices flowing :)

I think that a lot of guests would drink Mai Tais since they are very traditional.  If I were you, I'd pick a Mai Tai as one of your options.  They may even save you a little bit of money since they aren't blended.  Great drink ideas.  Congrats!

    We did three:

Pear Ginger Saketini (to nod at our time in Japan)
Lychee Bellini (because I love bubbles)
Lilikoi Mojito (the overwhelming success of the night)

We are actually meeting with a mixologist to create signature drinks for us...this is about the only wedding related activity that me and FI can partake in together other than stuffing the invites...lol. It is really fun...met him once already and will be meeting with him again later this week...since we can't taste cake or food why not alcohol.  J. :-)

My FI (we are officially engaged as of yesterday, yay!) and I have mango nectar and Lorina limonade (the clear one with the blue label). We added sliced strawberries and it was YUM! I definitely think a splash of vodka would be nice, but of course we just had this for dinner.

We defiinitely want a couple signature cocktails, and Alyson, your lilikoi mojito sounds good!

I have to second the rec for lilikoi mojitos.  I drank these almost exclusively in Costa Rica...YUMMY minty tartness.  Love it.  I also recommend pineapple mojitos, which we had served on trays right after the ceremony & photos ended to signify the start of the party.  They were a HUGE HIT.

Ooh, Tanq's awesome pineapple mojitos reminded me that we served pineapple lemonade as people arrived at the ceremony site and lemongrass & ginger shots (non alcoholic) at the end of the night as bookends. Ours was less formalized as beginning/ending, but it's a great idea to make it that way.

If you serve Mai Tais, please serve the original ones.  I can't stand when ppl funk them up with other flavors.

We are having limited drink menus for everything. Right after the ceremony we are have a tropical mimosa and bellini bar with mango, pineapple, lychee and lilikoi. At the lunch reception we are working with the restaurant to come up with our drink menu.  We are thinking one kind of beer and 2-3 tropical mixed drinks.  One that can be offered virgin.  We have to talk to the restaurant some more before we have this part figured out.

At our at home reception we are having Mai Tais, our signature wedding drink that I created, the HibisKiss, Blue Hawaiians and one other drink we haven't decided on, yet.  We are also going to have Hawaiian juices and sodas.

At our welcome BBQ we will also serve our signiture drink and Hawaiian juices and sodas. At the mahalo brunch we will have more mimosa and bellinis,  wasabi bloody mary's and Hawaiian juices.

Keasha- Do you have the recipe for the liliko mojiitos?

OMG I love all these ideas! Especially the lilikoi mimosa, pineapple mimosa, mai tais, and the bellini bar! Maybe I am a tropical drink kind of girl.

Now I'm thinking i need to have a drink night just to select our drink menu.

    THANKS ALL!

Oh yum!  We were thinking of doing cucumber mojitos as not everyone likes fruity drinks...  Can you please share the lilikoi and pineapple mojito recipes?

I don't know the exact mix, but our pineapple mojitos were:

    - Pineapple juice
    - Pineapple rum (Cruzan)
    - Fresh mint, muddled
    - Ice

Super easy, super tasty.  Too tasty...dangerous!
