ENGAGEMENT PARTY

HELP! I am trying to plan my engagement party and I have no idea what to do. My finance really wants to do it at the Columns. How many people usually attend...is it just a watered down version of the wedding guest list? Do you have a band or entertainment there? I'm pretty clueless!

Also, how far in advance do you need to send out invites?

  • We didn't have one, but you can make it as formal or casual as you like. Just keep in mind that everyone invited to the Eparty MUST be invited to the wedding. H's cousin had her RD at the Columns and loved it.

    I'd send invites 4 weeks in advance and you can invite anyone you want but you should probably invite them to the wedding also.
    We had ours at my mother's house and we sent out about 80 invitations, but only about half of that attended. We had a cocktail buffet, drinks and a cake. We had flowers, but didn't do a band. We are Catholic, so we had a priest come and do an engagement blessing. We also did a champagne toast when we cut the cake.
    For us, it was really about bringing our two families and our friends together, a chance for them to get better aquainted before the wedding.
    I really think it's personal preference. Do what fits yall's style and budget.
