Hair and Makeup trial queston

So, I have done lots and lots of research and have found a great balance between cost and quality for my potential wedding day hair and makeup. Very exciting!

It is $100 for me to have hair and makeup (airbrush and lashed included) for my wedding day. My question is that the trial is also $100. I feel like this may be where they recoup their price? Or is this normal and I am just cheap! Either way, I am sure I will probably just pony up the extra hundred bucks because that will be one less thing for me to worry about!

My trial is included in the price for makeup. My hair is free since I am bringing in my bridal party as well. I personally feel like that is expensive, but every area is different.

That does seem a little expensive for the trial, but my trial was $70 and my hair and makeup for the wedding is $150, so it actually averages out to more than you. I will be having my BM's hair and makeup done as well, they are $100 each.

It makes sense to me that the trial is the same cost as the day of - they're doing just as much work, if not more to figure out what you want and what looks good on you. FWIW, my hair will be $70 for a trial and day of (being done by a family friend, most costs in my area are <$175 for both). My makeup is going to be $210 for a trial and day of. I was telling my FI how I was thinking of doing my own makeup and he said "don't worry about it, the last place I want to skimp on is making you look good!"

I would highly recommend doing a trial for both. That way they know what they're doing and you know that you will like it. It will also make the day of go a bit faster. I don't think the costs are outrageous - it's for time, materials, and potentially travel and salon overhead. I think $200 for both with trials (especially airbrush!) is an awesome price, but then again, I'm from Chicago, and everything is expensive here.

<div>Yes, DEF going to have a trial, either way! Just wasn't sure if I was going to go with this specific salon or not. I think in the long run, I know it is less expensive than the other options I was looking at when you do an average cost. Thanks for the input!</div>

I 100% think it should be charged and this is why:

1) If it was free they've now had to take up a spot that could have gone to a paying client.
2) It's still the same amount of work as on your wedding day. Sometimes more since you're technically just trying it and if you don't like it they will have to do tweaks to get it closer to what you want.

I paid the same cost for my hair trial as it will be on the wedding day. Makeup will be a bit more expensive on the wedding day since I'll be getting lashes added on.

That is basically what happens in my area, that's how they get their money. My trial is Included but I am paying 180 for just my makeup then 75 for my hair day of and a trial for 40.

Yeah... about as much as I'm paying... I haven't done my trial yet. Sort of waiting to see if I could do it on one of those special days (bridal shower).

My hair trial will also cost the same as the day of. My hairdresser is doing my wedding day hair outside of the salon because it's a Sunday but I actually have to go through the salon to schedule my trial. I'll be charged the salon's standard updo fee.

Yes, that's about what I paid. And I didn't mind either, once the poor lady got done with the epic amount of work it took to do my hair (I have really long hair). They are doing even more work than they will on the wedding day, since they'll be trying several things.

The only thing I regretted was not having planned ahead and arranged a date night once I was all dolled up! Man I felt stupid just going home and washing it all out.

WOW I feel like I'm getting a deal. My makeup trial and day of were 25 dollars each. She is just starting out though and mostly is using my products, her brushes and she is doing lashes too. My hair trial I'm not sure how much will cost prob about 30 dollars and my day of hair is FREE!

Fi's uncle is a hairdresser so getting my trial done this weekend and day of for free... and his (fi's uncles) bfnd is a make up artist... so going to get a trial run done on that and if I like it... that will be his gift to me...which is fine. If I don't like it my MOH will do my makeup... we did a trial run last month and it looked great
