Christine O'Malley Florist Question

Hey Ladies!

I'm having my destination wedding in NOLA which makes everything a bit more difficult because I'm not there to see everything in person.

I've heard lovely things about Christine O'Malley the florist but I can't find a website or contact info.

If anyone is/did/is thinking about using her and you have either a website or contact, info I would be super grateful! Also, can you give me an idea of where her pricing starts and what the average is?

TIA

It's my understanding that she works out of her home, but if you do a search you will find her number.  I am actually calling florists today and had considered calling her, but some other knotties complained that their flowers wilted or their bouquets weren't full enough.  When I looked at some photos online, I kind of felt the same way.

No idea on prices though.  I've called about five florists during lunch and just left messages.

Her prices have been super reasonable (simple bouquets with about 3-5 hydrangeas or spider mums) starting at $35-50 and up from there.

Being OOT does make everything that much harder!

    Bezlu, are you OOT, too?

I'm trying to work it out so I can go down for a few days in September to do a marathon tour of EVERYTHING, but I can't count on it...

    Stressful!

She does work out of her house in the Kenner area.  You already have her e-mail which is the best way to get in touch.  Her prices were awesome and she was able to make changes and provide extras just a week before the wedding!  She is very nice, works with you on a budget, and is very knowledgable about the flowers and which kind will be in season.  I reccommend her!!!

Amandaf6383-I'm in New York City planning my wedding.  I've been doing everything by phone, but won't be able to get back to New Orleans until Thanksgiving.  Thank goodness my mom has been nice enough to scope out a lot of things for me on the ground.  I've just been interviewing vendors by phone.

Amandaf6383 and LouisianablueI am in New York City planning our Nola wedding.  We made a 3-day trip last month to get engagement photos done in the French Quarter and to do a vendor-meet-marathon.  It went pretty well but we're going to go back the weekend before Thanksgiving for another 4-day run to meet the ones we couldn't get to before and to finalize the menu.

I'd say we're about 80% figured out except for DJ and flowers.  Happy to share any info I have and, to hear what you have planned so far :-)

Amandaf6383 - I am also having DW wedding in 2012 and budget-wise flowers aren't at the top of my priority list. My coordinator (who is wonderful btw) suggested Christina O'Malley to me at the same time I was seeing tons of good reviews for her on this board. I emailed her and got a quick response. I am waiting on her proposals, so I can't comment on that yet, but I would say she is definitely worth checking out. On destination planning, feel free to ask me any questions. I have made one planning trip last month with my mom and MIL and will need another jam packed one in the next couple of months. My coordinator is fantastic for recommendations, guidance, and fielding my one million emails! Good luck planning. It will be such an accomplishment for us to pull off these great destination weddings! :)

I would take some comments with a grain of salt in the case of any vendors. Not everyone’s going to be pleased with everything anyone does. I agree with Natmarie even though she hasn’t done my flowers yet. I helped my cousin plan her wedding and she was great to work with and the flowers were to die for. I asked about her prices being less than many because my cousin had priced around. She said she simply doesn’t want to raise her prices to conform to popularity when she already makes an acceptable profit at the prices she offers. I think she realy loves what she does. Thumbs up from me too.

Thanks everyone for all the advice!! I definitely am going to email her!!!

Louisiana, Bezlu, NO2012- I think everything will be a little more difficult for us because we're OOT, but I can't wait to hear what you all have planned, and to see how the weddings come out!!

    When are your wedding dates?

I'm getting married on April 7, 2012.  As for florists, I really want to hire Meade Wenzel, but am nervous about the planning process since she is only reachable by phone.  When I asked her how to share ideas, she told me to send her pictures in the mail!  It's so crazy to think of when we live in a digital world where most of my inspiration is coming from blogs and pinterest.

That's so crazy!!! I would be super nervous, too!!! Have you seen any of her work?

We're getting married February 11th.  I think the floral part is such a visual component that it's proving to be the most difficult part to plan long-distance, and I can't go back and meet with anyone in person until November.

I've heard good things about Meade Wenzel, so it's worth a call to see what she says.

Have any of you looked at Luminous Events?  I was thinking of candle scapes  with simpler florals.  They have some great photos on their site.

    I'm May 11th.

Bezlu, I just looked at that site for a wicked long time! I wonder how expensive they are...either way, I just got a bunch of ideas from it.

    Thanks!

I read on this board that luminous events starts at $700.  I've seen lots of pictures of Meade's work and she does really fabulous florals at what I think it is a reasonable price.  I'm still calling a couple of others just to make sure.  She also some candles in her work as well, so it's worth calling too.

    Right back atchya, Amanda :-)

Lousianablue, I don't know if that starting price for Luminous is always the case, or maybe just someone else's experience.  I was quoted a reasonable price range per table; comparable to flower prices.  BTW Would you mind sharing any links to Meade's pictures?  I'm still interested but would love to see more samples.  Thanks!
