Torn about when to bustle

Our ceremony isn't until 4:30 and we're planning on doing most of our pictures beforehand. My dress is a A-line strapless and has about 2-3 feet in train. I had a French bustle added (kind of a puff) and really like the look it. Would it be okay to bustle it right away for pictures etc and then un-bustle for the ceremony and than re-bustle for reception? Thoughts? Thanks!

  • yeah that sounds fine to me.   just make sure to get a few pictures unbustled too.

  • If it's not alot of work to bustle you, then sure, but makes sure to get some pic of your dress un bustled too.

  • I think it's fine to get pictures of the skirt both ways. I might keep a little steamer on hand in case the bustle causes any wrinkling. You want that train to look perfect for the walk down the aisle, after all, haha.
  • As long as it isn't one of those pain in the ass bustles.. go for it!

Shouldn't be too bad... I think it ended up being 7 buttons and they're all color coated (blue to blue, red to red)
  • I'm doing something similar picture wise and I never thoguht to bustle beforehand- so you just gave me an idea!! But i think this is perfectly fine, just take into account the time it'll take to bustle. I have different colored strings that match to each other--shouldn't take long. good luck!!

  • Sounds fine to me.  Do you want some pictures though with it unbustled?

This.  You definitely don't want to be super wrinkled!  We're doing most pictures before and I wanted to bustle it then, but my dress wrinkles so easily, so I'm going to wait.  Also, the lady that did my alterations told me not to bustle my dress and then ride in a car.  Just a thought.
  • I don't know if you have time or if your dress is home, but I had a little wrist loop added to the end of my train.  We're doing pictures at 4pm, the ceremony is at 7pm, and I didn't want to bustle until after the first dance.  The wrist loop will hold my train up before bustling.

  • I'll be bustling as soon as I get to the reception.
