show me your..

toasting flutes and cake cutting sets!

for some reason I am having a hard time finding ones I like!

Re: show me your..

  • I am having the same problem. I don't want to spend a lot of money on them since I will never use them again, but at the same time I don't want them to look cheap.

I acutally have mine already, but don't have a pic of them.

In response to the bold part:  I was thinking the same, but then I decided that to avoid never using them again, every year on our anniversary we will use them to have a glass of champagne to celebrate!  I told FI about it and he laughed and siad he'd never heard that (neither had I, it just popped into my head) but said it was a good idea.

same problem here.. the only ones I have found that I like are $80 for the flutes and $80 for the cake cutting set and I thought $160 was crazy for something we are going to use once!

Meh. I haven't gotten ours yet, but I was actually thinking about it last night. I'm pretty sure we're getting these flutes:

They're the Waterford Lismore Essence champagne flutes. They're $160 for the pair, but my cousin works for Belk corporate and gets ridiculous discounts, so I'm going to see if she can get them for me.

I have no idea about our cake servers...probably something vintage and monogrammed though.

ETA: I just found these on etsy. They're personalized and only $42 for the set.
  • We're not doing a toast but we have recently purchased our cake cutting set which does have matching toasting flutes.

Yeah I really don't get why all this stuff has to be so expensive.
  • We won't be having champange and I don't even care to keep the cake knife set, because what will I do with them?

  • I'm actually going to see if one of my grandma's has a cake serving set. I would love to use one of theirs.

I did find these cute forks on etsy that would be super cute for feeding each other...especially since they're only $12.

I would get our monogram on them though. BLM for him and KDM for me.
  • Thanks Kelsey!

    Those forks are SO cute!!

  • We are borrowing the cake knife that my cousins used for their weddings.  Our photographer gave us Tiffany's champagne glasses as an engagement gift.  They aren't anything exciting, but we are using them anyway.

That is awesome. Now you don't have to pay for them yourself.
  • TJ Maxx sometimes has some fun serving sets with beads and other stuff on them.  I'm thinking about starting to look there.  Hopefully I can spend less than $25 on a cake serving set.  I will just be toasting with my wine glass....classy I know :)

  • We are using the "redneck wine glasses" that FI used when he proposed (for the story here <---) because they are special to us.  We will most likely use something like Mountain Dew to toast with because Fi doesnt drink at all.

And we got our cake server from Things Remembered <--clicky.

  • We added these three sets to our BBB registry (still deciding which we like best).  If we don't receive them at a shower, we plan on using a coupon to buy it right before the wedding.  Each one is less than $60 ($47 or less with the coupon).  Our toasting flutes I actually bought at Harry & David two years ago.

  • My sister bought me toasting flutes and had them monogram. She gave them to me as a Christmas gift. Nothing expensive she is in college but they are simple and are us.

We are using my parents cake cutting set. They have it monogram with their wedding date on it. We are putting our date on the back.

We are cutting our cake with FI's sabre from college. The cake cutting pic will look like:

  • Ours are part of the Mikasa Love Story collection. We have everything from the picture below, although the frame doesn't really pertain to this question.

  • My parents got us the classic toasting flutes from Tiffany. I don't think they were very expensive. Around $30. My sister got us the cake cutting set that matches our flatware as an engagement gift.

  • Crap! I hadn't even thought of these items yet! One more thing to add to the list....

I have to agree with the ladies who arent spending that much money.... it's not really my or FI's style to invest a lot in something we'll see for about 10 minutes and then never use again.

I'm in a conundrum here. At our engagment party family friends of FI's (the ones that threw the party) gave us some gorgeous Waterford toasting flutes. As much as I appreciate the gift and the gesture, I really wanted to pick out my own. They aren't what I would have picked, especially since I wanted to get ours etched with our monogram and I'm not able to do that with these. I think I'm going to use the ones they gave us at the rehearsal dinner and get a different set for the wedding. I feel like this makes me seem horrible! I really do appreciate the gift, I just feel like it's one of those things you want to pick out yourself.

And Kelsey, I really like the ones you posted and I looked them up and Amazon sells them for $80. Just wanted to let you know!

ETA: Nevermind, I thought it was a pair, but it's just one flute! Doh!

  • I didn't know people actually picked out these things until I got on TK! Neither FI nor I like champagne, so we'll just be toasting with our regular wine glasses. I really don't care what we use to cut the cake--a sharp knife, hopefully? :)
  • We are borrowing our cake cutting set and I figured we wouldn't do the toasting flutes, but we probably should. I will probably just get plain cheap ones because I don't want to store them forever. (Stuff like that is nice but it turns to clutter really quick for me.)

  • FI parents gave us their toasting glasses from their wedding. They gave "Bride" and "Groom" etched on them. They weren't really what I was planning on our toasting glasses looking like but then I got all sentimental that we would be using their glasses and hopefully one day one of our kids will use those glasses, etc :)

For the server set we are buy one of the hand stamped vintage servers from Etsy. I have been looking for awhile to find one I really like. I have a few sellers saved that I'm waiting on to see their new inventory of vintage servers.
