Day-of Wedding Schedule... help!

Looking for a little insight here...

Our wedding is at 7pm on a Friday, I am having a professional hair and makeup artist come on location for me - but my bridesmaids want to do their own hair and makeup. I also want to get a manicure and pedicure for me and my 3 bridesmaids and perhaps my mom, which I was hoping to do the day-of. What would be an ideal wedding day schedule? We are definitely not doing a first-look (we're very traditional), so I dont have to schedule photos before the ceremony in with my day.  I have only thought of these few things so far, is there more to do the day-of (aside from eat and relax?) Smile

I did mani/pedis with my BMs the day before.  I had a 7 pm ceremony also and I can't imagine how we would have done it the day of.  Plus it was a fun relaxing treat before the RD.

You need to take the time you have to be READY (not the ceremony time) and work backwards.  Even if you aren't doing a first look, you can still take pictures before the ceremony which I highly recommend to save time afterwards.  You can take all the photos that don't have the two of you in them--your photographer can help you with this.

You need to allow 2 hours for hair and makeup for yourself as well as 20 minutes or so to dress and put on your accessories.  So let's pad the time a little and say 2.5 hours.  So you will take the time you need to be ready and back it up 2.5 hours (plus any travel time to your venue) and that is the time to start hair and makeup.

The morning can be spent relaxing with your BMs, having a light lunch, etc.  This is what I did and it was great to have those few hours before everything got crazy.  I don't advise trying to fill those precious hours with mani/pedis, etc.  They will be gone before you know it.

Here was my schedule (although I did do a first look)

    9:00 Rise and shine
    9:30 Breakfast
    10:00 Shower
    11:00 Relax
    12:00 Lunch
    1:00 MUA arrives
    1:00-2:00 First BM hair/makeup
    2:00-4:00 Bride
    4:00 Dress/photographer arrives
    4:30 First Look
    5:00-6:00 Wedding Party pictures
6:00 Leave guest areas/wait until ceremony

  • First, you need to ask your stylist how long she/he needs to do your hair and makeup.  For now, I would set aside 1.5-2 hours for this depending on how intricate of a hair style you are doing.  Then set aside another 30 minutes to get dressed.  I would try to be ready 30 minutes before your ceremony start time, just as a buffer in case you are running late.

So with all of that, you would need to start getting ready at 4pm.  As for the bridesmaids, I'd probably want them to start getting ready a little earlier, especially if they are doing their own hair and makeup.  When I am getting ready just for a night out, it takes me an hour and half to do all of that.  With several girls in the room and getting ready for a more special occasion, it's probably going to slow them down a bit.

if you wanted to do manicures and pedicures the day of, I would go first thing in the morning, let's say 10 or 11am, be done around 12 or 1 (depending on how many people you have and how many people are working on them), have a longer relaxing lunch, then go get ready.

This is all based on if you don't have to do any set up or other running around the day of your wedding.
