Bad news after bad news

Sorry, I'm a little shook up.

My grandmother has had her second fall in the past week, and this time she hit her head. She's in the hospital overnight for observation. Her dementia is getting much worse, and she is likely to end up in the nursing facility at her retirement village.

My grandfather (on the other side) has reported that he has cancer. Now, the doctor would not tell his WIFE what was going on, so my dad and I are skeptical, but he has a history of health problems, so this wouldn't totally surprise us.

Of course, my grandmother I'm really close to, so I'm a mess over her, and the other grandfather is a source of mostly pain to me... so I'm half upset and half apathetic. I'm all in a whirl...

Sorry. Needed to vent.

    So, so sorry to hear this. I know what it's like when your head is spinning and there's not much you CAN do but vent. Hugs~

    Sorry to hear that.  Im currently dealing with 2 ill/dying relatives and my wedding is 2.5 weeks away. I just hope they hang on or we will all be a mess, guess life will go on. But it sure makes things hard..

    Sorry to hear about your grandparents.  I'm in a similar situation as Riley - two of my close relatives have been diagnosed with cancer and the prognosis isn't good for either of them.  Our wedding is three and a half months away and it's a rough time for our family.  Just do what you can for your grandmother and we are all here to listen to you when you need to vent.

    Thanks, girls. FI and I just spent a good hour cuddling and watching silly tv. It's not a cure, but it certainly helped a lot.

    We just went through all this with his grandma - she passed in February. And a good friend/colleague of mine passed a few weeks after... it's been a rough year.

    So sorry to hear that you're going through a difficult time! My thoughts and prayers are with you. Vent if you need to, sometimes it helps. Hang in there.

    I totally get the "watching silly tv"  it really does allow you to relax your mind for a bit.  Do whatever works for you and vent any time you need to.

    So sorry to hear about your situations ladies.  I know FI grandmother is getting older and her health is getting worse. We both really love her and hope she hangs in there so I know where you are coming from. I will keep you in my thoughts.

    Sorry sorry to hear about the bad news. I actually am going through a rough time too. My grandmother passed away yesterday and we were very close. It makes me really sad when i think about my wedding in a few months and how now she won't be a part of it. Keep you head up, you will get through all of this!

    Kristin, I'm so sorry.

    My grandmother is still in the hospital. Mom called me, she's with her. I think she's ok, technically, but she's not eating a lot and sleeping frequently. About the only good news I've got today is that her retirement village is very interested in having my production come and do a show for them. ...If she can even sit and watch a show that long.
