My Mom is giving me away and is my maid of honor!

Hello! I was raised by my mother, she was a single mom from the time I was 5...my father really never was around except on Birthdays and Christmas, other than that, he never called or was involved in the life...I have said since high school, whenever the time comes for me to get married, I will have her walk me down the aisle...So, she is walking me down the aisle and is also my maid of honor.  I don't know how to go about telling my father that I have chosen my mom to give me away...any suggestions?

    Would he really be all that shocked about it based on his behavior your whole life?  My suggestion would be to just rip that bandaid off and hopefully he will understand.

    I don't think you owe your father an explanation.  Why worry about telling him?  Don't even bother.  If he brings it up, just let him know that mom is doing the honors.  Move to the next subject.

    Whether or not someone escorts you, and who that might be, is no one's business except yours and theirs.  All others, back off.  Have a wonderful time with your mother.  Enjoy!

    I would not even bother to tell him. I want my stepdad to walk me down the aisle but if my father comes to the wedding, it would cause too much drama so we all decided that if he is there, I will just walk myself.  

    I think you should proceed with yout plans.. he doesn't have to know.
