hair and makeup suggestions for Norwood area?

HI all -

getting married in April 2011...and looking for suggestions on reasonable hair stylists that can either travel to my home in Walpole, or that is in Norwood or the area so I can be close to venue when I get my hair done.  I would love to find someone that will not charge me an arm and a leg for a trial...

Also - need experienced makeup person that will also do a trial. I only have two folks in the wedding party  - MOH and Best man, and I am finding that most folks do not travel for only the bride...I could likely convince sis MOH to get her makeup done with me...:)  any recommendations for a makeup professional would be welcome...I want it to be a classic look that will last the whole eve...and do not want to look like a painted lady or china doll.  :)

Thanks!!

I used Robin Liebowitz of Faces by Robin for my make-up.  She is so sweet & did an awesome job!  She lives in Natick, and will travel.
I usually don't wear make-up, and she gave me a very natural look.  We didn't have a bridal party, but she also did the make-up for my mom, mother-in-law, sister, sister-in-law, and my brother's girlfriend.
I went to her house for a trial.  She didn't charge me for the trial, and let me take the contract home to think about it.  I wanted to see how it looked after a few hours, and see how it looked under different lighting, when I took photos, etc.  I thought she did a great job.  I E-mailed her a copy of the signed contract the next day & mailed a deposit.
She charged me $150 for my make-up, and $75 for everyone else.  I was very happy with it on the day of the wedding, and everyone else loved their look as well.  It was kind of expensive for me (since I don't usually spend on things like that, and we paid part of it for everyone else, since we knew they had already all spent a lot travelling to be there, & on their outfits, hotel rooms, hair, etc), but it was our wedding day and I am very happy I did it in retrospect.

Robin recommended a hair stylist who also travels for me as well: Kristine England.  Kristine charged me $125, and half was due at the trial.  She charged $75 per person for everyone else.  I have naturally curly hair, and wore it down.  I actually had a Ouidad curly cut a few days before the wedding, and the morning of I washed my hair, conditioned it, sprayed it with detangler, set it with hair gel, and let the curls dry.  Once they were mostly dry (~2-3 hrs later), Kristine diffused my hair, scrunched the curls, used a curling iron on a few random straight pieces on top, and then sprayed the heck out of it!  My hair stayed so curly, after sleeping on it that night, I went to our brunch the next morning, and everyone commented on how it still looked great!
Kristine blew out my sister, Mom & mother-in-laws hair, and then gave my mom some soft curls in the back.  My mother-in law has short hair, and she gave it great volume & curl.  My sister-in-law had her do a sleek updo, and my brother's girlfriend had her curl it & put sprigs of baby's breath in it.

They both were professional, and did a great job.
Yay! Finally able to update my signature :)

There are a few salons in Norwood you could try.  Salon Divoe does hair and makeup, and there is also Salon Rouge.

I was in a wedding in June and had both my hair and makeup done in Norwood, right next door to each other.  I did my hair at Salon Rogue and my makeup at Tracy's Skin Care.  Both did a great job, reasonably priced, and I started them at 7am for an 1130 wedding.  Didn't have to have big bridal party, you can just make the appt for yourself.  I know that both do trials for weddings, not sure what they cost though.

Hi!! I used Jenny Luu www.jcluu.com for my wedding last week.  I totally would recommend her for both hair and makeup!!!!  Jenny really took the time to listen to my needs and created my ideal look (for all my bridesmaids) and provided her recommendations.  She truly loves what she does and it shows. She's really easy to get along with and travels.   Hope that helps. =) Good luck!
