Postage Help!

I want to make sure I'm not getting confused.  This seems very straightforward, but if I weighed one of my invitations at the post office, and it weighed 1.6 oz, that means a single 65 cent stamp is sufficient, right?

Thanks ladies!

Re: Postage Help!

  • I believe there's more to it than weight.  I took mine to the post office, and the clerk weighed it for me, and told me it would be 1.10 to mail each one.  He showed me some kind of chart that measured the dimensions (mine is fairly large and square) and said that it costs more due to the dimensions moreso than the weight.  I did a test mailing to my parents just to be sure!
  • In addition to weight, they take size into account like PP said.  Mine were also $1.10 to mail because they were pretty thick (we did pocketfolds).

  • Mine weighed at 65 cents but also were $1.10. I was so grateful I only had 73 to mail!

  • I just took one invite to the post office this morning to be weighed.  I was more than sure it would be regular postage because of the weight.  Well, because of  the little thingy on my belly band, it makes a bump in envelope and they said it can't run through the regular meter, they would have to hand stamp it.  Therefore, it is now .65.  I guess it could be worse.

  • I just took mine and asked the lady to weigh it and tell me how much postage would be to send them. Mine have the invite, a business card, and a ribbon that ties around like a gift box and it was still only regular .45 postage! I was so excited since some of you girls had said the bow made yours more but I had no problem sending the one that I did send international..its already made it to the recipient with no trouble at all...it costed a little more though..1.10 maybe? But sending international costs more..it cost the same to send the STD to her.

  • ours JUST passed at regular postage price thank goodness...
and we handed most of ours out... and only mailed to out of town guests etc trying to save on postage...

call me cheap it's fine... I save where I can lol, and our family is down to earth... it's how most wedding invites are done in our family... hand delivery :D
  • It just dawned on me that the postage cost more than the invites itself.  lol.

I bought a kit at Michael's and used a 50% coupon.  Oh well!!

  • Well, I just took them to be mailed.  Some of you were right!  Even though they weighed what would cost 65 cents, the thickness added an additional 45 cents.  $1.10 per invite!  EX-PEN-SIVE!  At least they're out of my hands and on their way! :)
