Vendor Review 10/01/11 (Long)

So the wedding is over but the memories live on... if I can help one person with my reviews it will all be worth it:

Church: St. Pius X Catholic Church. A+. I was a member here so they are very accommodating! Church is amazing and beautiful in its own unique way!Reception: Receptions Inc - Erlanger. A+. Wow I can’t say enough about Receptions. Yeah it’s a typical reception location but the staff was so friendly and inviting. The food was delicious and our room was set up beautifully. There was not one thing I would have changed, oh – except the fact that other weddings were trying to use our photo booth because it had to be put in the hallway and they thought it was venue feature for everyone. Once the room contact caught wind of what was happening she quickly put it to a stop.Photographer: Ron Wood Photography (Angie). A+. I LOVE Angie. She is wonderful, sincere, and has a great eye! I couldn’t believe when I saw my engagement photos that it was me in the picture. Naturally I felt the same way when it came to the wedding day photos. Her work is flawless and she is so fun to work with. The turnaround time was insane – married on the 1st photos online edited on the 3rd!Videographer: Mark Rohrig (Derek). A+. Derek was terrific. One man and a video camera and the result was beautiful! Now I will say that the only reason I did video is because it came with the photography package, had it not been for that I doubt I would have spent the extra money. But I can tell you that I am so grateful I have everything on video now. Derek was such a trooper – it was so cold the day of and his nose was so red. He did excellent work and I can’t thank him enough.Florist: Inspired Floral Design (Katie) A+++. Katie is by far the best florist ever! She takes something so simple and turns it into a masterpiece. I told her in the very beginning I had no idea what I wanted and just gave her colors, from that she created something so elegant and timeless! We opted to have her create our centerpieces rather than using the ones provided by Receptions and I could not believe what I saw! Breathtaking, I cried when I walked in because in your head you envision one thing and never would I have ever imagined someone who you barely know could take that and turn it into a reality!Cake: Jeana’s Great Cakes (Jeana). A+++. Let me start by saying I was terribly afraid of KARMA when it came to the cake. See I’m the person that attends the weddings and bases everything off of how good the cake was/is. I found Jeana completely by random, well not completely but through The Knot. She is just a small little bakery out of her home but she puts so much time and effort into everything she does. She is truly someone who has perfected her craft. Our cake was not only beautiful but tasted delicious! We actually had guests from other weddings commenting on our cake! She puts so much time and love into her cakes that it shows. She also completed a groom’s cake for me, which was no easy task if you ask her! She is such a lovely person to work with and I can’t wait to work with her again in the future. DJ: A Steve Bender Production (RJ). B-. I don’t know if I expected more than I received but… everything was good it was just really hard to get a hold of anyone. The price was good and everyone was dancing all night, just the closer we got the more distant they got. I actually didn’t meet with anyone until 3 days before the wedding (not my choice). Hair: Lauren G at Paragon Salon (Downtown).  A+. OMG she is the best. I had no idea what I wanted so I told her at my trial she was free to do what she thought would be best. I only gave her a few musts… veil must be easily removed, and it can’t be slicked back so tight to my head that I get a headache. I couldn’t believe what she did, she transformed me. Everyone at Paragon Downtown is awesome, can’t thank them enough! Makeup: Stacey at Paragon Salon (Downtown). A+. I told Stacey I wanted to look like myself with just a touch of drama, and that is what she did. I do not own an ounce of makeup so I was afraid of looking too made up. She applied soft and subtle tones, and played up my eyes. I couldn’t believe the end result! Loved every minute of being pampered. Dress: Bridal & Formal. C. I love the dress I got, however getting to that point was something else. I never really got the attention I felt I deserved, everyone was concerned with everyone else and I was pretty much on my own! Then the dress came in 6wks after ordered, was told 6-8mths so there was a mad dash to figure out what I needed to do to store it. I got a run around with my veil and headpiece as well. Chances are I will never recommend B&F to anyone.  Alterations: SewMuch (Mary) A. OMG she is wonderful. She did an excellent job altering my dress and the bustle was absolutely gorgeous! I could not have found a better person. Not only is she reasonably priced and super friendly but she stored my dress for me until the week of the wedding. That was a huge relief as I didn’t know what I was going to do with my dress since it came in soooo early. Can’t say enough great things about Mary. Limo: A Limousine Associate. A+. So we got a Hummer at a pretty reasonable rate. It was the best. The limo driver was prompt and friendly. I am so glad we went with them, will definitely use them in the future if need be.

Happy planning to all!!

How early did you get your alterations done? And how long did she store the dress for you? I am thinking of using her for my alterations. Thanks!

Congrats!! Sounds like everything went pretty well. I'm glad Jeana did a great job on your cake. We have her booked for our wedding in June and her samples were DELICIOUS. Plus, her personality is just amazing!

OAN: I'm sorry B&F gave you a difficult time! I'm kinda nervous now, since I ordered my dress from there!
