Wedding Vows

Hi Ladies!  Has anyone written their vows yet?  I've written mine down, and I'm not sure if I should read it to someone to help me fine tune it, or if they should be kept private until the big day.  What do you think?

DH and I wrote our own.  We wrote them independently, and then read them to each other to help fine tune it.  To us, it wasn't about the surprise -- it's not like they somehow mean more if everyone hears them for the first time at the ceremony.  The side benefit was that we knew what the other was going to say so it actually prevented us from bursting into tears and reading vows in between sobs :)

I think we're going to write some vows together and then add a few sentences by ourself.  I'm not quite sure.  Feel free to post them and we can help you proof!  There's also the vows board that you can post on!

If you want to share, we would be glad to help!  We aren't writing our own vows, it's too much pressure for us when our officiant has good vows already - that is our cop out!  :)

Us too! That and I don't think I'd be able to hold it together if we wrote our own - speaking them or hearing his..... I'd be a blubbering mess. We decided to get a card or letter to each other the morning of the wedding with our own personal thoughts and then do the vows from the officiant for the actual ceremony.... this way, I can be a blubbering mess in the privacy of my own hotel room : )

Fi and I wanted to wirte our own vows but FI has a foot in mouth syndrome that plagues him from time to time.  Plus he was never one to be able to convey his thoughts through words.  So we might end up going with the vows that the officiant has for us.  Though I would love to tell him what I promise to do for him and what he means to me in front of everyone when we're up there.

Thanks Ladies - I kind of like the idea of sharing our own vows in front of everyone.  It personalizes the ceremony more, at least in my opinion.  I'll think about reading them to him and vice versa beforehand, but not sure yet how he'll feel about that.  We'll see.  I'll definitely have to practice a few times though, because I definitely don't want to be nervous wreck up there. :)

I like this idea, I was thinking about it earlier today, I know I'll be so nervous to have to "speak publicly" even if it's only 30 people, my anxiety with everyone watching me might cause me to pass out, lol. k probably not really.
