annoyed with an RSVP

Its just 1 RSVP, but I knew it was going to happen. So the back story is that my FI good friend from High School was in the process of moving when we were going to send out invites so FI decided since he was going to help him move we would just hand deliver the invite. Well that was the weekend I had surgery on my wrist so that plan fell thru but FI got their address so we could mail the invite. Since the original plan was to hand deliver and we didnt have the address, I left the return section blank on the reply envelope figuring they would put the names on it and on the Name(s) line on the RSVP so I would know who is coming. While putting their invite together I had a feeling his friend would send it back without putting the names on the reply envelope or RSVP, so I made sure it was the only card that didnt have at least the return name (had another we were hand delivering and another last min addition that I didnt have time to make a label).
Well today, like I thought, I got a blank reply card telling me 2 people are RSVPing but no name on the envelope or on the  Name(s) line on the RSVP. If I hadnt made sure it was the only invite like that, I would be trying to figure out who sent the invite. Its still annoying getting a blank card back tho.

Re: annoyed with an RSVP

  • That was my fear with our rsvps so FI & I numbered them all. So far, everyone has put their name on the card though. Good thing you knew which one wasn't labeled!

  • We wrote tiny numbers in light pencil on the back of each RSVP card that corresponded to their number on our guest list. We also wrote Name______________ instead of the traditional M______________ because we have a lot of guests who aren't fluent in English or familiar with American wedding invitations. So far everyone has filled in their name, but I've heard most people get a few blank RSVPs back. It's just something that people don't think about I guess.

  • We did the small number on the back method as well.  I was worried people would have terrible handwriting or have no idea what to do with the M.  So far we've been fine, be we only have 12 or so cards back.
  • we did the number thing too....has been very helpfull!!!

  • Ditto the numbering.  So far I don't think anyone has not put their name....but I did get a friend who just  added plus one (I found out he was dating someone and extended the invite to her but he didn't put her name in!).

  • Yup, this is why I numbered the back of them as well.

  • I figured the M_____ might be confusing so we did the Names______ instead. I also added return labels on all the other invites that way in case we did get a blank we would still know who it was, it was just this one invite we didnt do it for and it turns out to be the only one so far that came back blank. We still have about half the guest list that we are still waiting for RSVP's

  • My RSVPs have the M________ on them and one person sent theirs back saying Myself & One. Really?! I knew who it was immediately and she's not the brightest but honestly. Oh, and no return address on the envelope either.

  • I got halfway through wax sealing my invitations when I realized we didn't number them like I had planned. At that point I figured there was no point in starting to number them since half of them wouldn't have numbers if we did.  Luckily I've not had any that didn't have a name. I'm still missing over half of my RSVPs but at least the name hasn't been an issue.
