Belize Honeymoon Suggestions??

Looking for a romantic hotel with a great beach in Belize. So far I am thinking about Matachica, Victoria House, Las Terazas, Portofino, Pelican  Reef Villas....they all seem great, but it's hard to tell online. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I didn't care for the beaches in Ambergris Caye at all.  When we went, I didn't go in the water once, and I was really disappointed.  There was way too much sea grass and it creeped me out to much.
  • The beaches on Ambergris are not nice. The reef is very close to shore, so there is a lot of debris in the water and on the beach. Placencia has nice beaches.

  • I really enjoyed my stay at Victoria House, but agree with the others on the beach. The beach was okay there, but the sand is thin and the water just had too much grass. Agree with pps on Placenia. Not sure of your budget, but Turtle Inn is a nice choice!

  • The island of Ambergris Caye is blessed to have the second largest barrier reef in the world directly off the coastline (1/4 mile from Las Terrazas beach).  The waves break at the barrier reef, causing the shoreline to be calm.  This lack of wave activity causes the growth of sea grass which is a necessity in the bio marine life on the island.  Most all activities revolve around the water (diving, snorkeling, fishing, wave runners, parasailing, etc) which in turn, cause you to be in or on the water.  The lack of swimable beach is almost a non issue.  At Las Terrazas, we have a 250' dock that extends from the beach in to the Caribbean whereby a swimming area has been roped off to allow easy swimming access without being in boat traffic.  Las Terrazas specializes in honeymoons and destination weddings.  Visit our website or Facebook page for photos and more information. ENJOY planning your honeymoon!!!
