venue ???

so we booked our venue an at the meantime that's all we have for now ... onto my question ...

how often do we hear from them? the wedding is over a yr away and I'm the kind of person that needs confirmation everything is a ok lol i'm afraid they'll accidentally give our date away or over book even though I have the confirmation paperwork.

is there some kind of thing that vendors do to possibly "check in" an be like hey just heads up everything is peachy keen??

it sounds absurd writing this but I have had some awful experiences booking things in advance an then issues arising which has made me this paranoid. and I don't want to email my venue woman sound like a nerd or ocd person.

Re: venue ???

  • Hmmmm I don't think venues contact you until it's closer to the date.  I understand being concerned though.  I've had tons of questions since we booked, so we've been contacting the venue and they always know who we are and when we're getting married, which makes me feel better.

  • Normally they don`t contact you until it`s time to start figuring everything out (your timeline for your day, decorating, etc). I`m in close contact with mine since he is helping me out with various things because I`m not 100% familiar with the city the venue is in.

  • I totally understand because I feel a little nervous about all my vendors being out of contact for so long. I'm booking them now and won't likely have to talk to them for anything until about a month or two before.  The venue is the one place I'll probably talk to earlier to finalize the menu and decorations (since they do the centerpieces and a lot of the other decor). I guess I just have to put it out of my mind or I'll make myself crazy worrying or them crazy checking up.

  • Most will send a copy of your contract as a confirmation of booking your date. I can't imagine they'd start contacting you about other things until 6 months out-especially for food.

  • We booked back in October & did a tasting in November & since then the only time we've talked to them is if I emailed them to ask something.

  • We booked our venue in the fall..(late September)....tasting is this month (february) and another required payment is due in May (a year before the date).  I don't intend to hear from my venue until next year.  However, I have emailed the the venue re size of tables and the # of guests that sit comfortably and the responded in a timely manner.  The also answered questons about the linen colors.
