Cuisinart or Kitchenaid?

Which stand mixer do you find better?

Re: Cuisinart or Kitchenaid?

  • I registered for a LOT of Cuisinart stuff, but definitely went with the Kitchenaid stand mixer.  It's a classic, for a reason.   :-)  Now I just have to wait and see if somebody buys it for me.  US.  I mean US.

I started a conversation about this a while back actually!  Not sure if the link will work but I'll try:

I looked on Consumer Reports and found some user reviews that they don't make KitchenAid like they used to and the motor/gears don't hold up for kneading bread and heavier tasks.  The Cuisinart has more power for heavier mixing.  But I also heard from people who love their KitchenAid, and the KitchenAid does seem to have more attachments and comes in pretty colors.  I ultimately chose the Cuisinart because I thought it would be more durable.  Not sure whether I'll actually buy it for myself if someone doesn't select it as a gift.  I'd like to do more baking, but I haven't had much time for it in the past and I also need to do more working out and dieting :-)
Whoever said it was supposed to be happily ever after is a big fat liar.
  • I went KitchenAid.
  • They're comparable, but I recommend the KitchenAid for 2 reasons:

    1) the KitchenAid has many more attachments for lots of tasks (my favorite is the ice cream maker- hands down the best on the market)

    2) the KitchenAid is heavier, so it will be more stable on your countertop when doing tasks like kneading dough.

    Bonus!

    3) The KitchenAid stand mixer, while its internal design has been modified over the years, has been around for a long time and probably won't be going anywhere, considering all the attachments and classic look. The Cuisinart, though a well-trusted brand, has not always been made by Cuisinart! Further, reviews for the Cuisinart have not been as consistently high as the KitchenAid.

  • I prefer kitchenaid.  Granted, I have my mother's KA which is over 30 years old and just refuses to die.  I almost want it to so I can register for a new one in a pretty color lol.  I also just don't like the looks of the cuisinart one - looks sort of awkward to me.  That said, I would go with cuisinart for almost everything else - blender, toaster, etc. over kitchenaid.  But for mixers, I'm a loyal KAer.
