groom's cake PIP

FI is Navy, wanted to do something that would capture that essence!  Found a wonderful bakery that will do this for us!  This cake is Army, so his cake will be white:

    Very cute!  Though I'm like 90% sure that's a Marine cake, given the white belt and gold belt buckle.  I bet your guy will love the Navy version!

    Definitely a Marine cake and not Army.  Personally, it's not my style and the placement of the rank rather bugs me.  You know your guy, though.  If you think he'd like it, go for it.

    My FI is USMC retired.  We are planning a USMC grooms cake for our reception.   I haven't met with the baker yet (we have an appt in 2 weeks), but my FI thought that was pretty cool.  He's wearing his dress blues for the wedding.

    That is totally cute!


    Like Cab said,  H had the Navy logo on his grooms cake. If I could upload a picture I would... But it wasn't the decoration that he cared so much about.... he wanted a red velvet cheese cake. Which was sooooo yummy!

    OP said her cake will be navy-oriented, so no worries about the black icing.

    I don't particularly like it either. The buttons look wrong, and the medals and rank just look sloppily done. And why is there a name badge on it? Cute idea, though I would be WAY more anal about getting the details right (and FI would definitely notice if they weren't.) if I were going to do something like this.
