Cheesy or not?

We are having our very rustic, casual reception in a barn.  I’ve been saving wine bottles to fill with flowers and use as decorations for the reception area. I know I’m going to decorate them in some way, but I haven’t figured out how yet. I thought about having custom wine labels made with our names/date/thank you for coming/something along those lines, filling them with flowers, and placing them in the table as a centerpiece.  I asked a good friend her opinion, and she said it sounded cute and matched my theme. I asked my sister her opinion, and she hated the idea and said it was cheesy.

I know the only opinion that matters in the end is mine, but I’m just curious for other people’s thoughts as well!

Just as a side note, the labels would be pale yellow, tan, and very understated. No crazy pictures or wild colors involved, if that matters.

  • I voted sounds cute got for it! But just wanted to tell you about an idea I had seen on Pintrest.  You use a hot glue gun & write whatever on the wine bottle & then once that's dry you spray paint them whatever color you want.

But I think your idea is really cute, & not cheesy

  • I think it would be cute, but going with the rustic look, I think just removing the wine labels and having the simple green bottle is pretty too!  Either way it will look nice!  ;)

  • You could always do labels with numbers and make them the table number as well.

  • That would be very cute! I don't think we are going to do table numbers though :)

I second this. Maybe make the label rustic looking?

  • I think it would be really cute! Maybe use some chalkboard paint on the bottle around the middle and handwrite the note?!

  • You could also use some lace just around the middle or wrap it with some burlap or wrap it with twine.  Look on pinterest!  I'm always seeing wine bottle centerpiece ideas on there.

  • I don't think it's a TOTAL cheese fest :) but I think it would look better and more rustic without your names etc. on the bottles.  The wine bottles as vases in itself is a great idea.
  • We are having 8 ft. long tables with burlap runners. These would go on the very center. On each side (further down the table) I am having lace wrapped mason jars with a twine bow filled with water and a floating candle. I was trying to think of something with a pop of color, since these will be filled with baby's breath. Maybe I could just spray paint the bottles a pale yellow color?

Love the chalkboard paint idea too! If we were doing table numbers I would SO do that! Maybe I could do chalkboard paint and draw a heart?

    My wheels are turning now!

This is the exact thing I was going to suggest. I personally don't like labels.  At first I was going to suggest just taking the labels off the bottles and leaving them that way.  then I saw you said you wanted a pop of color, the pale yellow by itself would be gorgeous and understated, and if you did do the chalkboard paint, itd just be cute, not gawdy or tacky.

  • I think it would look best leaving the bottles as is, but that's just my opinion :)
