How much were your alterations?

I know I'll be needing alterations and I have a first fitting appointment for June at the David's Bridal where I got my dress. But I've read a lot about how going to a different place for alterations can be cheaper. I'm going to need hemming and a corset back put in and am just curious to find out what alterations any other NYC brides have had done and how much they cost you? (Also feel free to recommend your seamstress!)

    $500 for a very complicated alteration since I lost weight and my dress was 3 sizes too big!  She did a ton of bead work by hand, added a hidden zipper, and did this all just a week before the wedding.  She works from home (in Flushing) but she used to work for a big NYC bridal shop.
