I won a contest!!

Or something...

I just got a phone call from a woman from Dinner For Two (I remember entering this on a whim... I never win anything), and she said that I won five gifts from them.
1) A romantic getaway for three days, two nights to either the Bahamas, Mexico, or the Dominican Republic. Everything is paid for (meals, hotels, entertainment) except for airfare.
2) Two wedding bands from jvljewelry.com.
3) Two Dinner For Two aprons
4) A set of crystal toasting glasses (with our names and wedding date engraved on it)
5) And a chance to win a Harley-Davidson at the drawing they do at the end of the year.

Is this for real??? I'm just so shocked, you know?

Also... I looked at the wedding bands, and they're so not what FI and I want. So... maybe we'll find out what our options are. If worst comes to worst, we'll just sell them and buy what we really want because in my opinion, the wedding bands they make are kind of ugly.

But the rest is pretty amazing!!

Wow, if it's true, that's awesome.  I never win anything either.  I"ve never heard of Dinner for Two and I tried googlng them, but nothing came up.  Is it a real place/thing? If so, and they aren't asking you to put any money into it, then it should be real.  Which would mean wooohooo!!  Keep us posted!

Ive been getting alot of calls from some crystal co saying i won something. it was one of those things where you have to sit through dinner and they try to sell you stuff to claim your prizes. I googled the phone number and got all kinds of feedback they were a scam. try doing that. i told them i didnt want to sit through a presentation but they keep calling me.

I got a call saying something similar after attending a bridal show and we had to go to a hotel and watch a presentation (or that might have been a different spam) Did you go to a bridal show recently? Just be a little leery. After I went to bridal shows I got tons of calls saying I won stuff and then I found out my friend who went with me got the same calls! Some companies are so sleazy!

The contest you won is basically a scam.  Everyone wins... the prizes are real, but to claim them you have to sit through a 2-3 hour VERY PUSHY sales presentation for their products.  Extremely uncomfortable from everything that I've heard/read.  And, the prizes come with all sorts of catches (blackout dates and such).  AND, two nights at an AI is really not much at all.  It probably costs them next to nothing and you'll pay a lot in airfare.  Not worth your time, IMO.

    Thanks for the feedback, everyone!!

This is pretty much the same reaction I had... and I did google the number. A lot of people came up saying that it was a scam, but then one person posted about how they actually went to the presentation and everything. Apparently, it was a cookware thing that they were trying to get people to buy. If you sat through the whole thing, then you get this prize package thingy.

I'm going to talk to my parents and see what they have to say.

They told me I wont the same thing. I ended up signing up for a date to go see their presentation. But a friend of mine googled them for me and found out all the stuff they've done to scam people. So I ended up just not going. The reviews were awful. I was so excited too, oh welll :[

I got the same call the day after we went to the bridal show at Lourdes College back in January. They basically told me I won all this stuff....and that I would have to come to a hotel to claim it. I knew right away it was a scam, but I told the lady I would come at the one time. We never went, but I did look it up on the internet, and as the others said, it looks as if they make you sit through the presentation and push all kinds of stuff on you.

@Heathc123, I've been getting those calls from the crystal company too! They call me at least once a week. I just let it go to voicemail and delete it. They seem very pushy too!
