planner/coordinator...

i really want to hire a planner, so that everything turns our way more perfect then if i do it on my own!  how many people are using (or have used) planners vs. not...is it worth it?

Re: planner/coordinator...

  • I am not using one. I see you are from Philadelphia. Are you getting married there? If so, you should come over to the Philly board. Many of the girls have used planners. I know a lot of them recommend Erin Proud. But ask over there, they will have lots of recommendations.

  • I think it is worth it if you don't really have the time to deal with all the details of wedding planning.  I feel like wedding planning can feel like a full-time job sometimes so having a planner would make things so much easier and smoother to plan.  For me though, I have a year until our wedding and my fiance and our parents have been helping so much that I feel like we have it all under control.  I've never thought of myself as a control freak but when it comes to our wedding, I have become one lol!  I really prefer to do all the vendor research and want to make sure I'm getting the best deal.  However, I do want a Day of Coordinator just so that I'm not worrying about all the details of the day, whether things are on time or running smoothly, on the big day.  I'm trying to talk FI into having a DOC for our weddding day.  It's their job to make sure everything goes as planned and I honestly just want to feel like a guest at my own wedding the day of.

I'm using one and she has been a life saver!!!

    1) She got people to respond about canceling a contract that I had contacted for 3 weeks. She e-mailed them and they answered within an hour

    2) Because of business she does with our baker we are getting about $300 worth of freebies for the cake! (she was even surprised at this!! I think it's just fabulous! They are one of the top bakers in our area too)

She also sets up all my meetings so all I have to worry about is bringing my ideas. She also asks all the questions and I assure you some of the questions I would NEVER know to ask.

I highly reccommend it if you can afford it!!

  • I am lucky to have a day of planner at our venue who will take over vendor stuff 5 days prior to the wedding so I dont have to worry about it! Bu ti personally like being hands on! Im just sort of a control freak and thinks no one will do it better than me :) But if you dont think u can handle it, i say get one!
  • thanks ladies!  i will definitely be hiring a day of coordinator!  i'm just on the fence about a planner/event designer...oh how i wish my budget was unlimited :)
  • So far I think hiring a planner was the best thing I've done.  I am currently living in Vermont until this summer but planning my wedding in South FL.  She has made my life so incredibly easy.  Everytime I visit she sets up appointments for me.  I would highly recommend a planner.  Worth every penny!
