Lindsey your story is very sweet but I suggest you take this down asap--posts like these don't go over well on the knot and you're more likely to have people vote against you (like the couple who is going through cancer treatment...)

    Seriously?
Do you think we all have had easy deployments, la-la lives, and LOADS of Uncle Sam's money to spend on our weddings?
Sorry. Sob stories that may or may not be true don't do it for me.
Not only that but you're ALREADY MARRIED.
You didn't need to have a quick JOP, and face it. You did it for the money and benefits. You already had your "dream wedding" when you said your vows that day. Let someone else have theirs.

I will now vote for someone else.

Thank you, fellow September bride ;) We're pretty freakin' happy.

Except that he just lost his ring.

    One week.
We have been married ONE week.
    lmao..

How's the wedding planning going? What are you working on right now?

Ok, weird. That's OUR names! (Ok, his middle name, but I call him by that all the time.) Oh, and I also spell my name with one N.!

hahaha funny :) I actually don't I'm Anna, but it's pronounced the way "Ana" is. I'm Eastern European, I'm guessing your latina or some sort?
    Ana seems to be latina
Anna (pronounced the same) is European... I have actually had people try to argue how to say my name... Seriously people?! come on.. It's my name.. don't you think I know?!1

Wedding planning? Not going lol.  I'm not gonna lie, we haven't even thought about a date--more like "last two weeks of September or first two weeks of October" is as far as we've gotten (I hate hate hate the heat here in DC so time of year is the most important thing).  We actually just finally got engaged last week--he "surprised" me...except he's very obvious and I had it nailed down to a 48 hour time frame.  So, I'm in no rush :)

You are correct. What's funny is that growing up, my parents taught me how to spell it your way, ANNA, because my grandmother on my dad's side is Anna. But, as I grew older, I started noticing all my legal docs as Ana (like my birth cert. and social). My mother is full Hispanic, so when she was in the hospital giving birth to me, she kind of oops and spelled it the way she was used to it being spelled.

    hahahah that's too funny :)
My dad misspelled my middle name so we have that in common!

    Congrats freeb :)

Definitely voted for Michael and Kelly! Their lives would have been made so much easier if they had rushed off to the JOP, but they wanted to wait, and I <3 them for it.

Yes, absolutely!  I feel like if it's soooo important to someone to have the whole enchilada big wedding bash, then it's worth it to wait until you can do that.  And certainly someone who waited is more deserving of winning a contest like that.

That's fine, you guys are more than welcome to vote for whomever you like. If my post brought attention to the contest I am happy for that.  I am happy that we at least made it to the top ten over a lot of other couples.  The contest was opened to married couples who didnt have a large ceromony, we arent the only married couple in the contest.  But please don't pretend you know why we got married saying it was for the benifits and the money.  I was making a lot more money working back home than my husbands current salary.  I have also worked our entire marriage.  We are slowly saving up for our dream wedding.  There are a lot of deserving couples who deserve to win an oppurtinutity like this.  I do not feel that as a military couple we go through anything harder than any other military couple. I am very aware of the hardships we all face.

Best of luck to all of you on your wedding planning.

Fact is, you aren't allowed to post to on TK to ask people to vote for you in some contest. It's in TK rules and regulations.
so FAIL on you. Don't scold us because YOU can't read, or reading your story isn't worth our time.

I wasn't scolding anyone just simply asking you dont pretend you know why we got married.  I have been on the knot before and saw posts similar to this. I later saw that you can't post stuff like this and it says you can't delete posts once there are responses.  I edited the story out.  Thanks.

I just find it rude that you posted on the Military Brides board, trying to gain sympathy that you didn't get your dream wedding because deployments and life got in the way.  Everyone here has had deployments and life get in the way, but it's all about how you deal with it.  You chose to do a JOP and put a PPD on hold, which hasn't happened yet.  I personally chose to do it all at once, and did what we had to do to make that happen.  Neither you or I, or anyone else for that matter, is "deserving" of a big PPD.  You had your wedding how you chose to have it.  If you want to take the time and money to throw a big PPD party still, fine.  But don't expect me to vote for you.

Again, I wasn't EXPECTING anyone to vote for me.  I put it on this site because I thought other military fiances and brides could relate, a lot of the wives in my husbands battalion suggested I put it on forums like this, because they too could relate.  Sorry to offend anyone.  Have a good day

OP, you post really rubbed me the wrong way.  Your story was ridiculously rehearsed, and you didn't even bother to post something original, you just c&p your submission essay.  I'm sure you thought we'd feel sympatize with you because you've spent 60% of your marriage apart and you felt that you "had" to JOP, some of us didn't JOP, some of us took the time to plan a wedding & are satisfied with that.  Some of us have also spent more than 60% of their marriages apart.  Good Luck, but I'm pretty sure you won't win. Especially when you're up against couples who AREN'T Married!
