Double Booked Venue

Has anyone had to deal with a vendor double booking their reception?  Right now the room is still ours, but we have been offered a discount to change our wedding date.  At this point I'm not sure if our other vendors will be able to switch dates; however, the discount is worth looking into.  Even though the room is still ours, the stress behind all of this has been unbelievable.  If anyone has advice on to deal with the reception venue professionally I would very much appreciate it.

It seems like this has been happening a lot lately.  Our friends got married in September 2008 and that happened to them twice at two different hotels.  My mom is a photographer and a wedding she is doing next month just had the same issue.

I'd just make sure to get everything in writing - the discount if you decide to go that route and DEFINITELY something saying the room is yours if you decide to keep it.
Damn you Nest for screwing up my siggy!

If you don't mind me asking, what is your venue? I am in the process of selecting vendors and want to try to avoid this if possible.

    Thanks and good luck!!!

The reception will be at Tanoan.  To their credit they have worked hard to make both wedding parties happy.  They gave us an amazing discount to change our date, which we decided to take advantage of.  The guy who double booked us no longer works there and our new coordinator seems much more on top of things.  Even though we delt with some drama for a few days, things have worked out for us.

Good luck finding your reception hall!

We had our ceremony at Tanoan...even though we went through three different coordinators while we were in the planning phase, it turned out gorgeous.  We had a little bit of an issue with something between Coordinators 1 and 2, but I couldn't tell you what it was if my life depended on it...obviously it was something small enough to be forgotten in the long run!
