  Have the groomsmen at the alter before your girls walk in. Then it won't matter who's escorting who.

  This is a non-issue so stop freaking out.
  
  Keep your 5 bridesmaids and let him have his 3 groomsmen.  Nothing will look awkward.  As PP suggested, have the guys already up front before your girls walk down the aisle.  When it comes time for the recession two lucky guys get to have two women on their arms.

  We had 4 BMs, 2 GMs.  The guys came in with H at the beginning, and the girls processed up alone.  At the end, the 2 guys each escorted one girl, and the last two girls walked out next to each other.  

  
  

  No one watches the WP process out.  Once the B&G are out, everyone starts collecting their belongings and chatting with those around them.

  This was my exact WP!  We had all of the BMs process in by themselves.  Then for the recessionaly, the last two BM walked out together. 
  
  I have also been a BM where I walked out and was introduced with 2 of the grooms' brothers.
  
  So really you could do anything!  But don't add/subtract WP members to have even sides!

  Like PPs said, uneven numbers are just fine.  PPs also have good suggestions of having the guys already up front for the processional.  For the recessional, two guys can each walk with two girls.  Or, each guy could walk with one girl, and then the other two girls could walk together.

  I have 5 BM's and he has 9 GM's! We are having 2 guys for every girl walk down...the MOH and BM will walk together one and one and the rest will be 2 guys to one girl!

  Bridal party numbers dont matter. Now take a deep breath, center, then on to all the wedding items that really do need your time and attention.

  This isn't really a big deal. Having even numbers of BMs and GMs just for the sake of numbers is so passe.

  Yeah, don't overthink it.
  When my brother got married, she HAD to have 8 bridesmaids, and my brother is a very shy, introverted person with only about 2-3 good friends. He ended up stretching so far to get guys in his WP that one guy just DIDN'T SHOW UP. That's how close he was to my brother. I love my SIL but I hate that she did that to my brother.

  It was a fairytale.
