I'm back from my trip to Singapore and Thailand! And...I'm engaged!! He proposed on Koh Phi Phi after sunset. We were walking along the beach and he knelt down and wrote 'will you marry me?' in the sand. I was so surprised and kept asking if he was serious.
He got on one knee and pulled a bag out of his pocket. He pulled a ring out of it, but I couldn't really even see what it was because it was dark. He started to put it on my ring finger, but was like "Oh wait, I know this isn't really what you like at all..." and proceeded to chuck the ring into the ocean! For a split second I thought it was a real ring. Then I realized he had a bag full of fake rings, really gaudy and whatnot. He then put one on each of my fingers, each time asking something like "is this one better?".."how about this one?" and I finally stopped asking if he was serious and said yes!
We took a few pictures and walked along the beach for a while. It was lightning off in the distance and the whole thing was just gorgeous and romantic. Even though I thought it might happen on this trip, he totally surprised me with the timing.
I haven't seen the real ring yet but it is one we tried on while shopping this summer. Here are some pics of the fake rings (my fave is the panda..) and the beach.
P.S. If you ever have the chance to go to Thailand...DO IT!!!!!! It is so incredibly beautiful and the food is a-ma-zing.

Sparkles, doooo it! You must visit Chiang Mai (I didn't go there but it was FI's favorite place in Thailand) and Ko Phi Phi
Hazel, yes it is incredible! It was definitely my favorite spot on the trip. I love that there's no motorized transport and no street names. It's just a maze of walking streets with souvenir shops, restaurants, bars, and massage places. The beaches are amazing too. Monkey Beach had the clearest water I think I've ever seen. Good thing FI proposed on Phi Phi; now we have an excuse to go back and visit every 5 or 10 yrs or something
