I'm wearing a cathedral length drop veil for the ceremony ($77) from http://www.occanseydesigns.com and then switching to a diy birdcage veil for the reception  :)

@kimbpark: That is a really good idea. I was thinking of doing that, or maybe getting one of those stylish feather clip things instead.

Yea! I love the birdcage veils.. but I also like the traditional dramatic ones too...

I'm actually making the birdcage one from the lace taken ftom my dress after alterations... Hopefully after im done it will look like the one in the picture!

I definitely paid way too much for mine, I'd have to go back and look but I'm pretty sure it was well north of $500.  I wore a finger tip length veil and separate blusher.  I found one that matched my dress perfectly at Brides by Lori where I purchased my dress so I went for it.  Being a bit of a procrastinator I was working under a bit of a time crunch.  But if you have a little more time, one place that I found in my gown search that has great deals on dresses and veils is a little shop in Buckhead called Le Dress Boutique.  It is a high end bridal consignment shop carrying both "once worn" and new dresses and veils.  They also have a bunch of bridesmaid and MOB dresses. Here is their website: http://www.ledressboutique.com/.  You have to make an appointment, but if you are looking for a really good deal I think its definitely worth a look.  When you call to make your appointment they will find out from you what you are looking for to make sure they have stuff that might work for you.

In my opinion, veils are the biggest and least discussed racket in the wedding paraphernalia industry ... I mean how hard can it really be to attach a bit of fabric to a comb?... I'm sure there is skill involved, but the prices being charged at bridal boutiques are highway robbery.  You are very smart to be shopping around for a deal. Best of luck in your hunt for your veil!
