Not Married Yet?

I was thinking about something today that I don't think I've ever shared here.  One regret I had after the wedding was that I didn't ask for the caterer to make "to go" boxes for DH and me so that we could take some leftovers with us.  We were so hungry when we got to the hotel and since we didn't have any food with us.  Also, we didn't really get to enjoy the food at our reception since we were so busy talking to everyone (plus I probably didn't have much of an appetite since I was so excited).  We ended up stopping at Taco Bell to get something to eat!

Also, I would have loved to have pieces of the cake.  We had three tiers and I only tasted the one tier that we cut and fed to each other.  I didn't actually eat another piece at the reception.

So I wanted to make a suggestion to ask your caterer to wrap up some food and cake to take with you.  If you don't end up eating it, no big deal.

    i definitely second this!!!
DH and i didn't really eat anything at the wedding so by the time we were back at the hotel we were starving! plus, the hotel didn't do room service (crazy, right?). lucky for us though we were staying at the same hotel as the groomsmen and they were sweet enough to get us take out and threw in a bottle of champagne too :) but i seriously don't know what we would have done without them (besides driving to a fast food joint lol)

I second the food tip - DH's sister made us a snack bag, and we had some boxed up cake. It was perfect for that night at the hotel and the next morning for breakfast. :)

Another tip - if your getaway vehicle is the same one used by your wedding party for any part of the day, make sure they have all their stuff before you leave the reception. My siblings each left things in our car, and they were flying home the next day, so I got a panicked text early in the morning after our wedding asking where all their stuff was. :P

</div><div>DH and I asked for this at our wedding.  However, we ended up forgetting our food after the wedding as we were so distracted.  So make sure you don't forget it!  We also had TONS of cake left over, but we didn't get to taste a bit of it because my mom gave it all away.

I second (or third or fourth) this!

Our leftovers ended up going to the mission and the leftover cake went to a neighborhood family with a daycare. I'm honestly kind of upset that I only got one piece of that cake. I know H doesn't care, but I would have loved to have some on the HM.

Just something to think about. And make you sure whatever you decide to do is clearly communicated to your coordinator, parents, etc because you will not remember to make sure of it!

That's such a great idea! Our caterer is boxing up the leftovers for us, but I never thought for FI and I to take any!

I didn't think to ask the caterer about this, but we didn't have to! At the end of the night, the people who owned the reception venue brought us several take out containers of food to take home. We took them home that night and then to the hotel where we opened gifts with our family the next day and we all (20-some of us) ate it for lunch. H and I were eating it all that day before we left for the honeymoon. Also, our cake baker threw n a 6 inch heart-shaped cake for the honeymoon! We didn't want to take it on the plane but we ate it when we got back from the honeymoon. Also, at the wedding while we were all dancing, I ran off the dance floor for a few seconds and downed several bites of both my piece of cake and H's piece (2 different flavors)... haha I have such a sweet tooth, I had to get some of the cake! But I didn't get any of my fave cookies from the cookie table, though... So yea, if no one offers, ask for the leftovers!   :)
