Wedding on 9/18 Tipping

I'm hoping someone can help with a tipping question. Are you supposed to tip the DJ, on top of the fee they charge you? And if so, what is appropriate?

I know gratuity is already charged in my caters fee but am unsure about DJ. Assuming florist you pay the fee only.

Thanks.

  • If the vendor owns their own business or is getting 100% of the fee, then you don't tip.  If they work for a larger company or only keep a percentage of the fee, then you should tip.

  • We tipped our DJ and since we didn't know the original cost (since he came with a package we got from our hall) we tipped him $100 and his assistant $50.
  • We're tipping our DJ 20% of his fee.

  • Remember that tipping is optional, and for exceptional service. Double check for any service fees, or any other charge that eludes to a tip already included.

  • Read the contracts you have with your vendors.  It could be that they already took care of the tipping in the "gratuity" part of your bill.
