Reception Dress

I found a dress today that I really really want to wear for the reception. My wedding dress is pretty traditional so I wanted something different for the reception. (I initially wanted to wear a pink dress for the entire wedding, but fiance said no. lol.) Our colors are pink and silver so I'm not going completely crazy by wanting a pink dress. lol. I just want your thoughts on it. Oh and by the way I didn't pay anything for my wedding dress and the reception dress is $350...so I think its pretty reasonable cost-wise. I'm a sucker for a pink pouffy dress! haha. =)

I think the dress is absolutely beautiful and if that's what you want, go for it.

That being said, it's just not my style.  I'm just more traditional though.  Even if I had a larger dress budget, I would have wanted just that one special dress that I enjoyed all day.  There was a thread on this not too long ago and it seems that most ladies planned to wear the same dress all day.

Also, your FI doesn't get to dress you and dictate your apparel for the day.  It's one thing to offer his opinion for you to consider (and then still make your own decision) and another thing to just straight say no like he's your father and you're a child.  Perhaps I'm taking what you said the wrong way; I hope so!  Wear the pink dress all day if that is what you would really like.  I think that would look gorgeous next to BMs wearing silver/grey dresses and holding pink flowers.

Do you have pictures of you wearing the pink dress?  I'm just wondering if you have tried it on yet and still love it.  I ask because I had a few dresses in mind that just didn't work once I had them on.  If you have pictures with you wearing the dress, I would love to see!  Good luck with making this choice!

Thank you all for your opinion so far!
cschuma: you're right, he did just flat out tell me no. mostly because he and his family are very traditional and he said that would just be unacceptable to them. although i completely disagree with that, i chose to respect it and compromise in other areas. im okay with having a pretty traditional wedding but i still wanted some of my own originality in it. im not having actual flowers for the bouquets and i've decided to go with this dress for the reception at least, whether he likes it or not. lol. his biggest issue with this dress was that he says we could use the $350 on the honeymoon instead because its not a necessity to have another dress. and i certainly do love my wedding dress, but its just not the easiest to move around in thats why i chose to look for another dress in the first place. (although i didnt plan on getting a pouffier dress than the one i have now, i just couldnt resist! lol.) i went and tried it on yesterday to make sure i would even look good in this style of dress since i've never even worn a dress like this. not even for prom in high school. lol. i got a few pics with my phone while i tried it on, but the lady at the store was absolutely NO help in getting it on. she literally just told me if i needed any help to ask but then walked away. so i had to actually hold it up while taking the pics which was a little difficult. (which is why it looks like its hanging off of me, cuz it is. lol.)

and of course, i had to get a picture of me sitting down in it! haha.

That's even prettier than I pictured!  That looks so good on you!  $350 seems like a very reasonable price too!  Since your FI seems like he doesn't want to cut $350 from the honeymoon budget, what about cutting it from some other areas?  Maybe you can scale back your flowers slightly, do your own hair and make up on the day of,  buy less expensive shoes, etc.  All of these things seem like they won't directly affect your FI, so maybe he won't care so much.

I'm normally not a fan of changing dresses for the reception, but I actually really like yours (even though I couldn't pull it off!).  What I like about it is that even though it's pink, it's still so bridal looking.  I think that's my biggest pet peeve about reception dresses... when you're the bride, you should look like a bride!  The pink dress looks really great on you.  It's so fun!

You look amazing in that dress! It is definitely a party dress, but still bride-y :)

im REALLY glad you all agree that it looks bridal still. cuz its actually a prom dress from windsor, so i was worried it would come off as too prom-ish. lol. and thank you so much for all the nice compliments!
