Re: Help with flower girl

  • Having taught 12 year olds for 10 years, I seriously doubt that a girl that age is going to want to be a FG.

Ask them.  They'll tell you if they think it's a baby job.  I would have said so at age 5, but sister would have been all for it at 12 or even beyond.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • I agree, you should ask the girls if they want to do it. My daughter asked me if she could be my flower girl for the wedding, she is 7 but will be 9 when the wedding happens, so she may change her mind. My FI's daughter will be 5 for the wedding, so if mine doesn't want to do it, I know she will :)

  • Just in case you can't do the petals, I am having my flower girl blow bubbles instead. Just a thought.

  • I think it is way too old and I would be wondering why they weren't asked to be Jr BM and Jr GM.
  • Even though they seem a little old, if your place allows, you should definitely ask them! To me, flower girls are so cute at a wedding and I am having my niece (age 10) as mine. Ask them, it can't hurt.
  • My kids (now 12, 14 and 25) would tell you that is too old to be a FG or RB. If you want them involved, just have them be BMs.

And flower petals can stain carpets, etc. and even artificial ones can be a pain to pick up. A leaf sucker thingy would work well to pick them up quickly, though. (AFTER WARDS, of course! LOL)

  • My little girls were 4-8 y/o and my boys were 2-10.  The ten y/o was a little bit too old.  He really wanted to be part of the wedding and he specifically asked to be the ring bearer.  If I were you, I would consider them juniors.  Other than my 10 y/o nephew, the others didn't have a "title."  I called them my flower children.
