Help- Invitation Wording (Nuptial Mass)

Here is what I have come up with based on the advice and suggestions on this board recently [note: our names are set apart by a different font and color and spaced where it is obvious that the text above it and below are to be read continuously, if that makes sense.  Also, the text is all caps so the capitalization of the first letters of words is not important]

"Together with our Parents
We Request the Honour of Your Presence
at the Nuptial Mass in which

Bride Name (scroll font, set apart)
&   Groom Name (scroll font, set apart)

We Will Be United in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony
Saturday the Twenty-Ninth of August
Two Thousand Twelve
Three O'Clock in the Afternoon

Catholic Church
City, State

Reception to Immediately Follow"

  • I would get rid of the "we"  after your names

We said "Recieve the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony" I don't know if that is correct, but  it doesn't matter too much

I did read somewhere that said invites should be read in third person, they..instead of we... I think it would sound better as:

    "Together with their Parents

Bride Name (scroll font, set apart)
&   Groom Name (scroll font, set apart)

Request the Honour of Your Presence
at the Nuptial Mass in which they
are United in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony

    Saturday the Twenty-Ninth of August
    Two Thousand Twelve
    Three O'Clock in the Afternoon

    Catholic Church
    City, State

But, really it doesn't matter, TBH no one else will probably care. At least that is what I think about other invites I get in the mail.

  • i would do:

    Together with their Parents

Bride Name (scroll font, set apart)
& Groom Name (scroll font, set apart)

Request the Honour of Your Presence
at their marriage in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony
and the celebration of the Nuptial Mass

    Saturday the Twenty-Ninth of August
    Two Thousand Twelve
    Three O'Clock in the Afternoon

    Catholic Church
    City, State

You are still inviting them to the wedding - that is the event.  the mass isnt the event you are inviting them to.  the mass does not unite you, the wedding ceremony does.  the mass is said in your honor.  so the wording above is more technically correct, although as a PP said, no one will probably notice or care.
