Ring Whine

So... now that I have been wearing both my e-ring and wedding band for a month +... I have really been noticing some wear on the parts of the band that touch/rub together.  I guess I kind of expected this... but I didn't think it would be so noticeable in such a short amount of time.  I try really hard to take good care of the rings (which is NOT easy for me, b/c I am pretty much a human wrecking ball with all things expensive)... I take them off almost every time I wash my hands (at home, not in public b/c I am paranoid they will fall down into the sink abyss or I will lose/forget them), every time I put on lotion, play with makeup, use hand sanitizer etc... I left them at home for the entire honeymoon (no salt water) and wore my "fake" set... and I even take them off every night.

So... today I went to Kay to find out WTF and if this is normal.  They were a little surprised at how quickly they had worn and suggested having them re-dipped.  This will be the third re-rhodium for the e-ring in 18 months and the first for the band... grrr.  I don't want to be making trips to the jeweler every 3 months (this could lead to me buying lots of unnecessary shiney things).  I told them I wanted to wait a few weeks (want to wear my real set to a wedding on the 23... not Kara's wedding.  boo).

The guy at the jewelry store suggested I have them soldered together.  I have no really good reason not to... besides... well... "I don't wanna".  lol.

I am guessing this is going to be a never-ending problem b/c I work in a hospital and am constantly washing my hands, using hand sanitizer and putting gloves on/off which causes additional wear on the rings and makes them rub together.  I could just wear my band... but... "I don't wanna".... I could probably just wear my fake set every day to work... but I love my real set and... "I don't wanna"...

So.... is anyone else having theirs soldered together?  Why or why not?  Anyone else having ring wearing down issues?

I feel like such a whiney baby tonight.  Maybe I should focus on wine-ing instead.  Thanks for listening, ladies!

I don't know if I'm going to have them soldered together or not.  I know how you feel though because I don't have a good reason, it's just that it kind of bothers me that they will be permanently together (not that I would wear only one or the other, it's just the point).  I would have to say that I just "don't wanna" either lol!

I am also in the "I don't wanna" category for having them soldered together, but I am super particular about the way the two rings fit together. I HATE it when there's a gap. Most likely I will end up having them put together so that they fit together nicely... wwhen we actually finally pick our rings out! Ggrrrr!!

I'm not planning on putting mine together because I do want the option of wearing the wedding band alone when I'm working out or doing house work or yard work.  I will have a slight gap between mine; at first when I was looking at rings it bothered me, but once I found the perfect one, I was okay with it.

If mine were rubbing though, I guess I'd go ahead and grumpily have them soldered.

I never even thought of that as an option.

I wear my rings 24/7. The only time they left my finger was for the HM and then the night my e-ring magically switched to the other hand. I wash my hands a million times a day (germaphobe), lotion everytime I wash, dishes, laundry, etc. I just looked to see about the wear...a few minor scratched but other than that...nothing. Everytime Im at the mall I have my rings cleaned (so i guess I take them off for that).

Sorry youre having that issue. But I love your "I dont wanna". Thats my arguement for just about everything. Who needs a real reason? Haha.

    Haha thanks b!tch!

Its really not though! I was told that if it starts lookin a little cloudy to take warm water, a little dish soap, and a soft bristle toothbrush...good as new!

I never take my engagment ring off either. I would totally lose it if I started taking it off.  I work in a chemistry with chemical everyday and its holdin up.

I've never even thought of having them soldered together...but now I'm thinking it is probably the best idea. I take my e-ring off a thousand times a day too...and I can only imagine taking off two rings is a complete pain. Plus I hate that sometimes theres a small gap between the wedding band and my e-ring. I think I just convinced myself to get the two put together!
