Wearing moms wedding dress at shower?

My moms wedding dress is a very simple one from the 80's; not your typical sequined massive thing. It's just a plain ivory floor length, with lace sleeves and neck. I really want to wear it to my bridal shower, since it wasn't my style for MY wedding dress, but I don't know if this is weird or not really appropriate. Any ideas?

I think it depends on the formality/ date of the shower.  If it's a very casual thing you may be over dressed.  If the shower is in the summer chances are you'll be too hot. If neither of those things apply go for it. You're the bride and can wear whatever you want.

  • That's a great idea. You can wear anything you want to your bridal shower.

  • My cousin's wife chose to wear her mom's dress in a modified version.  It was a great way to save money for her limited budget and it was a great interest piece.
