HELP!! Food Tasting

I am getting married at a venue that doesn't do many weddings. My food tasting is included in the package price. As I have been talking to the venue, the food manager put a list of her favorite things together and put them on my contract as a rough draft and said they can be changed at any time. I told her I wasn't too sure about 3 of the appetizers and she insisted I would love them. When it came time to schedule the food tasting she said to me, "What exactly is it that you want to taste?" Now I have never been to a food tasting before, but I was under the impression they have a bunch of things to try. I told her the 3 apps that I was unsure of and then I said well are there going to be other choices in case I don't like those. And she replied, you will love them, don't worry.

How have other people's food tastings gone? Do I have the wrong impression??

Re: HELP!! Food Tasting

  • We were able to try 4 meal choices and had to choose two. We let them know in advance which appetizers we wanted to try and also narrowed it down to what we wanted after the tasting. At our cake baker the same thing happened. We tried several flavors and picked what we wanted. Maybe since they dont do weddings you can pick through their menu and tell them what you are interested in trying. Try to go with more choices than what you are required to pick, so that way if you don't like something there is a backup. Maybe you can tell them some ideas of what you'd like to try by looking at other catering menus.
  • I think it depends on your venue.  We tried 3 entrees, 2 soups, 2 salads I think.  We had to chose ahead of time from the menu.
