Wedding Ceremony Site

For our Oct 2013 wedding, we are having an outdoor ceremony, indoor reception. We know where we want our reception (they are available), but can't find a close enough place for the ceremony. The reception is in Lakeville, and a 45 min drive is the max we want to put on our guests. So a lot of places are out of the question (Stillwater has a ton of places, but too far). There is one place called Cindyrella's that is really nice, but two of our friends (one couple) got married there in Jul 2010. We really don't want to have it at the same location (esp since they are both in our WP). Is this dumb???

I am really trying to figure out locations, so ideas are welcome. Or if it's dumb to think we shouldn't have the same location.

Tnx

I don't know if you have looked.. could you do it at Ritter Farm Park?

  • It's at your max driving distance, but Black Bear Crossings in St. Paul is a gorgeous outdoor venue. Pics and info in my bio.

Otherwise, I would look at your local parks system and see if they have any spaces available.
  • Where is your reception? Do they not have outdoor space? Woould you consider doing the ceremony in the same place as your reception? Would you consider moving the reception to a place where you could have an outdoor ceremony then move right inside for the reception? I wouldn't want more than MAYBE a 20 min drive between ceremony and reception.

Ditto PP that said check out parks. But the thing with those is there isn't usually a good indoor backup in case there's crappy weather.

It'd be fine to consider Cindyrella's. It wouldn't be dumb at all.

I personally wouldn't want to drive more than 20 minutes from a ceremony to the reception, 45 minutes is a lot to ask of your guests IMHO.

I'd check out The Wilds Golf Club as a potential ceremony site or Stonebrooke Golf Course in Shakopee. Eagan Community Center has options for ceremonies too :-)

I was about to suggest Eagan Community Center - the outdoor space there is beautiful  and they have a large facility with banquet rooms for a bad weather back up.
  • Ditto PPs, 45 minute drive between ceremony and reception is really asking a lot of your guests - 20 would be about my max before I said "see ya at the reception".  I'm not familiar with the spots for ceremony sites farther south so I'm not of much use to you there.  :(
  • Does the MN Zoo have any ceremony sites?

  • Thanks for the ideas. We really want to keep our reception site. It is a hotel, in our price range. i want to keep the hotel becauce knowing our guests, they will need a place to stay lol. We WERE going to have the ceremony in the same site as the reception, but they dont do it outdoors. We have both admitted to being too picky, and I'm going to try to sell him on Cindyrella's. It WILL be diif because we are having a fall wedding when theirs was summer. Different colors and whatnot.

Bottom line I think is that we are being too picky with such a tight budget.

BTW: The zoo does ceremonies but they are pricey.

  • What about Scherer Gardens in Eagan? I just looked at their FB page and it says they are open through mid Sept but maybe you could talk to them and see? Or maybe do a Sept wedding if changing the date is an option? Here is their FB page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Scherer-Gardens/312739912575

PS Their website seems to not work so I'd contact them through FB.

<div>I called them, and emailed them so I have my fingers crossed! Maybe I will FB them too though... If they can do Oct for me, then that's that! They look great for what we want :) Otherwise, changing the date IS an option, but for some reason I really love the idea of Oct for us (no real significance, just like it) </div><div>
</div><div>And Cindyrella's is off the table :( They have a max # of 100 guests. We will be having 125 minimum. </div><div>
    </div><div>Thank you so much!</div>
