Help! Anyone know how much Catholic Ceremony in Galveston costs?

Does anyone know about getting married at a Catholic Church on Galveston Island? I've been trying to get in touch with the priest at St. Patrick's for a while.  A friend just told me that it costs $3000 to get married at the church.  I think that's crazy.  Anyone know for sure?

Probably depends on if you are a member or not, I think if you were born in Galveston vs not born there differs as well

I can't remember which Catholic church it was in Galveston (I think Sacred Heart) that I called but there were very skeptical and kind of rude when I told them my FI was not Catholic

We are starting the process of being members at St. Patrick's in Galveston and we are both Catholic.  I just don't want to get on in the process and find out the fees are outrageous.  I've been trying to reach the Fr. but haven't had any luck.  We spoke with him initially so he can tell us the process but he didn't mention the fees.

This is what I found on the Holy Family Parish website:

In order to qualify to be married at a Catholic church in Galveston, either the bride or groom must be registered and active members of our parish for at least one year, or their close relatives such as parents or grandparents are registered members, or they belonged to one of the parishes of Galveston in the past, or their family has a second home on the island and worships with our community while living here.

We receive many requests from couples to have their wedding in Galveston.  In order to keep the churches available for those who are members of the parish or who have a family connection to the parish we strictly adhere to this policy.

If you qualify under our policy, please contact the parish office (409) 762 9646 and ask for Fr. E.J. Stein, O.F.M.

Thanks.  Fr. EJ is the one we've been trying to get in touch with.  I was hoping someone had been married there recently (last 2 years) who woulc tell us what to expect with the fees.

I am going to keep trying to reach Fr. EJ.  If I find out I'll post for other brides who may need the information :)

I got married at St. Pat's last year. I think it was less than $200, but my family are members of the church. We were married by Fr. John Bok and he is great. My DH is not Catholic and Fr. John had no problems with that. I think he is retiring this year so he may not be available for weddings anymore.

Just keep in mind most Catholic churches require one year of membership at the church before you can book a member price ceremony....I have to suggest meeting with the church in person, especially if they don't have a coordinator.  Best of luck!!
  • So, how much did you end up paying for the Church?? I am very curious because I am not sure what is reasonable
