July 2012 Weddings

Table Assignments Finished!

Now I can start on my escort cards... which I'm not looking forward to, but they will take a while so I really should get started.

Anyone else finish their seating charts yet?

  • Not yet! I'm doing that closer to the wedding. Maybe two weeks before.

  • No. I haven't had my seating chart set-up. I am meeting with my venue in 2 weeks to do that.

No definite seating charts yet, more like rough drafts lol. I won't have all my RSVPs til next week, and knowing our group probably later. Which is why I decided to have escort card envelopes so I can start on them now. So far I've got 20 envelopes. Need about 30 more! What kind are you making bmore?
  • Make sure to give yourself plenty of time. Mine took several hours to get right.

I am making boading pass style cards to go with the travel theme we have going. I am going to start printing tonight most likely, so I can post pics later if you're curious.

  • I have rough drafts as well, basically who's at which table, but won't be able to finalize it till I meet with my venue and get the seating chart based on our final count.

  • You b*tch.

Just kidding, love you. :)  Congrats on finishing! I'm still waiting on about 40 RSVPs, despite the fact that the RSVP date was last week.

  • B2B lol. I totally started mine before getting all the RSVPs in. I guess it would have made more sense to wait and do it all in one go, but I didn't have the patience.

  • ahhhhhhh SO JEALOUS

I am done with 134 of my place cards, so at least I have that done :) I wish I could start working on the seating chart but with over 100 MIAs it really just doesn't make sense yet.....
  • Wow! You are on top of it!!!

I'm not doing any seating chart stuff until rsvp's are all in, waiting on 38 with an rsvp deadline of Friday.

  • I started it the other night. We're still missing RSVPs from 60ish people, but we have a pretty good idea of who's coming so I thought I'd get a head start. Fuking fuk it's hard. No matter what I do there's 1 or 2 empty seats at most of the tables.

  • I have a mock seating chart created in excel and I keep adjusting it as the rsvps come in. Once we track down the stragglers, I should be able to finalize it with FI and then I'll get my reception's approval before I start making escort cards.
  • It is hard! But we have a lot of single guests coming that didn't take advantage of their plus one, so I found it really helpful to wait until the end to use those people to fill in spots. I think I was able to do it in a way where they will still be comfortable with where they are placed, but it took way too much time to get right.

  • I have been making rough drafts of table arrangements since we sent out the invitations. I have revised it a few times. I'm now waiting on a few last rsvps to finish it. These last 6 people will make a huge difference and I can't get in touch with anyone.

No joke! And it's not that easy filling up those 1 or 2 seats with random people cuz they have absolutely no ties whatsoever with the rest of the table. Talk about a setting up an awkward time!
  • I started mine yesterday when I was home sick and it was so much harder than I thought! We have a good start though, and I'm hoping to have it done this weekend.

This is encouraging... same thing is happening to us.. which I wasn't expecting.  I am dreading the seating chart so I'm waiting until everyone has RSVPd before I even think about it.

I know who I'm sitting next to so that's all I really care about right now haha.

Congrats!! We finished our seating chart the other night. It wasn't as bad as I thought! I emailed FI's stepmom to ask if she wanted to make any changes but haven't heard back from her. I also finished the escort cards, but those weren't too bad b/c we had a lot of couples.

ETA: Just got an email from FI's stepmom. She definitely wants to make changes! So, I'm not done unfortunately :(

  • I started mine last night and have a rough draft until we get the rest of our RSVPs.  The deadline is July 1 and this week I haven't received one.  It's so frustrating I still have like 80 people I'm waiting on.

  • I'm so jealous. My plan is to do it this weekend. The RSVP date was today and we still have 30 people we haven't heard from. Hopefully we will be able to contact most of them in the next few days. I am not looking foward to the seating chart. We actually have extra people because a lot of the them (like 7!) RSVP'd with guests they weren't offered. We told them we couldn't afford to pay for them and they offered to! I hate doing that but we have plenty of space and if they care that much then fine. I mean FI's sister refused to come without her guest. Oh and I'm really worried about where to sit one of my guests if he decides to come. Originally I was going to have a table of all the people I work with at drama club. Well so far all but one has said no! What am I going to do if this one says yes? He doesn't really know anyone else coming.

  • ours is almost done too...we just need to rearrange things since we've gotten a few no's we weren't expecting/expecting...

Yeah, I am actually thinking single people for the most people will like being mixed in with couples (for the most part, they're with ppl they know or have something in common with like being from the same area). I have been to weddings where they stick all the singles together at a "singles table" and it seems a bit awkward to me to do it that way.
