Kindle question

Soooo I got to open my bday present early today. :) H got me a new (TINY) Kindle! woohoo. I have the 2G one already, but he wants it. (He wanted the older once 'cause it's bigger.)

Anyway. Does anyone have 2 Kindles? Or got a new/replacement one? Is it pretty easy to transfer books back and forth? help!

Re: Kindle question

  • Hmm I don't know. I ordered my mom one from my account and when she opened it, it already had all of my books on it. I'm not sure how that worked. I am assuming that didn't happen for you? Sorry, that's all I got.
  • I am of no help, but congrats on the new kindle :) I would loev one of those
  • I have an original Kindle and a Kindle Fire.  I think when I turned on my Kindle Fire and connected it with my account, it listed all the books that I had downloaded, and then I just had to click on them to download them to the Fire instead of just the regular Kindle.  Something about syncing.

I don't think that was very helpful.

  • yeah... I probably should've waited until I turned it on ;) They all appeared under 'archived items' once it was registered. I have a lot of books that were, uh, shared with me though. So I have to figure out how to get those on too.

shan- H bought it for me, and did it through his account, so that's probably why. My Kindle is synced to my amazon account.
  • I know you can email documents to yourself-- I have a bunch of court cases on my Fire for my Con Law class that I emailed directly from a website, which is freaking awesome.  I don't know if you can do that with your "shared" books, though.

  • Oh yeah. Duh. Or I have Calibre on my computer. Maybe I'll just sync up the new Kindle with that.

If you scam your books off the internet, will they still show?

<div>They didn't automatically show up, but it still worked to manually drag and drop them to my Kindle. (I have them all saved in a folder on my desktop.)</div>

Nah, since it's only in the "cloud" if you buy them through Amazon, but it's pretty easy to transfer them, I just have a folder on my computer with all my converted files, I'd just click and drag.
  • Okay, I'm an internet moron, but I want to know more about this scammed books thing! I have a Kindle, and I would love to hear more about how you guys are "sharing" your books. I need to know this!

I remember reading on Amazon that you can use your account in up to 5 devices, beacuse so many people have more than one these days.  Try connecting both to your amazon account and see what happens.
