Plus-Sized

Kathy Ireland 2Be dresses in plus size

Hello ladies!

My brother is getting married this year, and I recently went shopping with my mom for her Mother of the Groom dress.  We found a dress that she loved, but she was not able to try on the sample in the store because the size was too small.  The style of the dress is A-line and looks like it would be flattering on any figure type, but my mom is a little nervous about ordering it without having been able to see what it looks like on her (though she did hold it up to herself to see where the waist, etc. would hit).

All that to ask, does anyone have any experience with Kathy Ireland 2Be dresses in plus sizes?  Do they look nice and feel comfortable?  I think my mom would look beautiful in the dress, but she needs some reassurance.  She has tried on dresses in similar styles and looked nice.

Thanks in advance!

  • I don't have any experience with the brand but I just wanted to say that it is a beautiful dress!

Gorgeous dress! I think that A lines are flattering on the fluffy girl....I think she would be just fine ordering that. If she isn't comfortable maybe going to a different store with the picture and ask for something similar so she can see how she would look in it..

Thing is, it says A-line, but chiffon doesn't hold much shape on its own, and it doesn't look like there's anything else providing structure.  This is going to drape straight down.  Dropped waist can also be tricky, but you say she looked at that already?

I would look for other dresses in her size in a similar fabric, just to see if she likes how the chiffon drapes on her, before she commits to buying this one.

  • Thank you, ladies!

We went to another bridal store today that had a larger selection of plus size dresses to try on, and she tried on several in similar styles.  She still loves the 2Be dress and feels a little better about how she might look in it after seeing similar dresses on herself.  She also has some back-up ideas now, too.  The bride's mom is still deciding on what she will wear, so we're waiting to see what she chooses for sure before my mom actually commits to a purchase (we know the general style the M.O.B. is looking for, just not the specific dress).

I don't think I mentioned in my original post that I tried on the 2Be sample dress so that we could see what it looked like on a person.  I border on plus size myself and thought the style was slimming on me, so hopefully that will hold true for my mom as well.

If she does end up getting the 2Be dress, I'll try to remember to come back and post an update on how it worked out, in case anyone wonders about that line in the future.

Best wishes for wonderful weddings for all of you!

  • I've tried on 2Be size 16 (plus size) bridal dresses and thought they were AHHH-mazing. One made my mom cry.  I saw the same dress in a size 8 at another store and as far as comparing the two, I'd say that the satin on the two was exactly the same, the beading etc was just the same.
So, if your mom likes that dress and is mainly concerned with the issue of the plus size dress being the same as the smaller sample, I'd tell her not to worry about it and to order away!!!
    Good luck!
