Colors, Attire..Does your venue also serve the food? If not, you could start looking for caterers. Start to make a wedding planning binder so your thoughts are on paper instead of in your head.

I did (in this order):
Booked Venue (the ceremony will be there)
Decided on a color scheme
Booked DJ
Booked harpist for ceremony
Found my dress (much earlier than I ever imagined)
Booked Photographer
Bought vases for my DIY centerpieces

Next is putting together a wedding planner, looking for an officiant, engagement photos, DIY favors, asking wedding party, BM dress shopping.

I am starting school Sept. 4 and will be in school until the week before the wedding. I wanted to make sure I had most of the biggest decisions made before school starts.

Has anyone already asked their wedding party?

nda, I am about where you are and will be starting dress shopping next. Just finally found a day that works for all of the VIPs and made an appointment! If flowers are a priority for you that might be another next check to go after. Apparently the best florists book quickly. I am leaning towards DIY for my centerpieces, so I haven't tackled that yet.

Sparkelly, I am a student too, and also trying to get stuff out of the way! Good luck getting ready for school, it will be here before we know it...

I have asked some of my wedding party-I know TK reccomends waiting a bit, but I was just too excited not to ask my obvious picks (my two childhood friends and two cousins). Now the problem I'm running into is that there are a couple of more friends from a different circle I'd love to have there with me, but we are only having around 100 guests and some sources seem to think that would be too large of a WP. I just can't picture the big day without them there with me for pictures, getting ready, etc.

florist
makeup/hair stylist (reserved the date, haven't done a trial yet)
and I picked my colors somewhere within this time

I asked my BP pretty much in the few months right after I got engaged, so they've known a while. I am considering adding one girl but haven't decided 100% yet.

Yay for being less than a year away (finally!!)

Xstatic - It will make the next year go by that much faster. It is going to be nuts! I am glad I got as much done now. I really don't want to be even more stressed while in school! What are you studying?

Edit: I've asked my Maid of Honor (which was a given), Flowergirl, and Ring Bearer (The MOH is the mother of the FG and RB - I wanted her to have a good amount of time to prepare!)

FI and I are also running into problems. We too are only having about 90-100 guests, so I wanted to keep the bridal party small. It is so hard to choose the closest people to you when you have quite a few. We have made our decisions though - just waiting a little while to ask!

I am in an environmental science and management Masters program. Specifically I am studying wetlands and fresh water quality. I'll actually be finishing up my final project right around the time of my wedding. Eek! Getting ahead of things will be really key here, I am hoping to get most of the small or DIY stuff done over winter break. What are you studying?

We knew what colors we wanted from the beginning
Booked church (ceremony site)
Booked country club (reception site with linenes, food, and open bar)
Photographer
DJ
Engagement Pictures
Started pre-cana and prep

We're currently researching florists and we'll interview florists in about a month and we plan to have our food tasting at the beginning of November. We also picked our hotel to block rooms at, but my parents want to go see it first. I am also going dress shopping August 25.

After we booked our venue the club manager said the next things to get done are florist, photographer, and dj. He said these were the vendors that would book up the fastest, so we've been working though that list.

Oh and we already asked our wedding party. For GMs we have my brothers and my FI's brothers, and for BMs we have my two best friends growing up, my two best friends from college, and my SIL.

I have an appointment to go dress shopping on the 25th

We will be asking our bridal party as soon as we finalize exactly who we want in it. We are having 150 guests with 4 people in the bridal party on each side.

I am also in school and have the same idea as you ladies, I would like to get as much done now so I can focus on school while I am in school.

Next couple things I plan to do are sending in deposits for Dj and start meeting with florists.
