THE LOFT/VENUE HELP!

hi girls! I'm newly engaged and new to the site as well! my FI and I booked the loft for sept 8, 2012!! we loved it ... and still do although I'm starting to have doubts that it may be too small for us! they only had one saturday left for pretty much fall/winter 2012 so we had to book quickly.. and im hoping i made the right decision.
we are trying to keep it at 200 guests tops but do any of you who have already held receptions at the loft (or have seen it) have any input??! I was told 230 was tops (Although I really doubt that would work)... any input or reassurance would be great! also how did the flow of 2 levels work for everyone that did hold receptions at the loft? does anyone have pictures of their reception also? thanks for the help!!

    I will in 46 days! :)

I'm a little nervous about it too, but all the reviews I read said it worked well. I'm having around 150 and there is plenty of room for tables to be moved and people to walk around. I like the two floors because non-dancers don't feel obligated to dance and will be able to socialize and the dancers/drinkers have their space. I'm excited to hear other's perspective on it though!

I had originally wanted to go with the Loft but after speaking with my wedding coordinator I switched to a different location.  She said it is hard to fit that many people in there and it can get tight.  We are inviting 240 and are hoping that 180 - 200 will come.  It just seemed like it would be over crowded so we didn't go with it.

I'm not quite sure how many guests my brother had at his reception last summer (there at The Loft) but I know it was a fair good amount.  The space did seem small for the amount of people there.  With that being said...it was a beautiful wedding, no one seemed to really care that space was limited, and don't forget that some of your invited guests will not be able to attend and have to decline the RSVP.

My best friend had her wedding there. How many people are you inviting? Typically around 20% do not come. My friend had about 150 and there was PLENTY of room upstairs althought the downstairs was a bit crowded during cocktail hour and dancing.

The 2 levels flowed really well. My friend and her husband did their receiving line at the bottom of the stairs so that everyone could greet them while coming down for cocktail hour and that worked really well. The DJ announced when they were going down for the first dance and everyone came down.

I would be a little nervous about the size of the bottom level for 200. Maybe you can do dancing upstairs?
