inexpensive reception halls in the chicagoland area

Budget is 3000 for reception hall for 100 people....any suggestions

Re: inexpensive reception halls in the chicagoland area

  • Does $3,000 include anything or just the rental fee?
  • Where in Chicagoland are you looking?  Your best bet is a banquet hall outside of the city and if you have it on a Friday or Sunday or a lunch/cocktial reception.  Try these: Mirage, Allegra, La Villa, or Victoria's.

  • That's everything
  • Skylight Banquets is really afordable and maybe do a brunch. Your beat bet is to go through halls or hotels that offer packages. Have you looked at your VFW hall that is where my mom and my aunt had theres.

  • $3000 for everything is very, very low -- are you hoping for a full meal, just drinks, brunch??

The FOP Lodge in Sugar Grove is $600 (includes tables/chairs) if you have less than 100 people, but you would still need to get food/drinks/etc.  If you're hoping for a more of a picnic-y feel, Vasa Park in South Elgin (outdoor pavilion + surrounding park) is $1100-ish for the day.  Catering is the most expensive factor, so if you cut guests, drop the open bar, or cut food choices your wedding price will decrease drastically.  I don't mean to be a buzzkill, but even if you find somewhere that does food for $15/person (which is ungodly low), you'll be at $1500+tips+sales tax and that doesn't include drinks, place settings, decorations, ice, linens, cost of a bartender, cost of possibly renting tables... etc.

I would definitely look into a VFW hall or community center.  With a few exceptions, the space rentals in the suburbs start at around $1200 and increase dramatically as you get closer to the city.  Downtown you can expect to pay $5000+ for the rental of a big empty space.

Sadly, Chicago-land is not a good place for inexpensive weddings.
