"The Reveal" Ideas

Hi all!
I wanted to get some ideas on how my groom and I could do the big reveal.  I am a non-traditional bride and we will be seeing each other before the wedding.  Our photographer will be there to capture this special moment.  We want it to be fun and unique. We are getting married in Hoboken (close to Jersey City) and are up for pictures in the surrounding areas.  Thanks ladies!!

A lot of couples take photos in the Hoboken train terminal. Frank Sinatra Park has great Midtown skyline views, and the river's right there, so maybe you could do something where your FI is leaning on the railing looking toward Manhattan and you come up behind him.

Washington Street is kind of cute if you want shots walking up a street, although it can be crowded and you might have gawkers. There are some cobblestone alleyways in Hoboken that might make for cool shots. You could go in front of Carlo's City Hall Bakery from Cake Boss and pose in front of their display wedding cakes in the window (unless there's a ridiculous line, as usual, lol).

Whereabouts in Hoboken are you getting married? Is it that Saints Peter and Paul church? That's right by the park and the riverfront, isn't it?

In JC, there's Exchange Place and the Paulus Hook area, which will get you good skyline views. There's also Liberty State Park ... our e-pics were at LSP and on the ferry to Liberty Island (and on the island itself) and we got a bunch of great shots with the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island in the background.

JC also has the classic Loew's movie theater, which might be neat. There's also Liberty Science Center ... they wanted too much money for a reception otherwise I would've booked them for my own wedding, but maybe it's not expensive to get photos taken inside by the exhibits.

We did ours in the park by my house. I've got some pictures in my bio. Honestly, after the day is done, you can't even tell they are the first reveal vs just married happy pictures! He waited at the bottom of the stairs for me and I walked down to him.

We did ours in the park.  They tried to hide him from seeing me but we were in a field and he showed up late so it didnt really happen.  We still had some nice shots.  The big reveal only lasted about 10 seconds and then we got on with it and started taking pictures.

One thing to think about -- you guys meeting up in a location that isn't super close to where you're getting ready and/or having your ceremony may lead to complicated logistics, because it will add another location to the day.  Both of you need to get there, separately.  Where are your bridal parties for this?  Are you taking your bridal party photos at a separate location either afterwards or later?  Even if you'll only be taking 15 minutes of pictures, you may be adding 45 minutes of time to an already busy day.

We're doing our reveal at our location, Berkeley Plaza.  For right now I'm planning on being in the middle of the dance floor....Sitting on the floor with my dress all spread out.  I've been planning this since we picked it last April. Sealed
