6/16 Recap! PIP Heavy

Finally got the photos back to normal! Sorry :/ Some are pro pics from their blog, and some are from friends and family.

We started the day at my parents' house, where I grew up. My 3 bridesmaids, my mom and myself all had our makeup and hair done. We got airbrushing done, and LOVED it! It was over 90 degrees all day, I only had to touch up once. That stuff is incredible. My hair didn't hold up as well, but with the humidity and heat I didn't expect it to. Oh well :)

We did pictures in my parents' lawn before going to the church.

Bridesmaids, myself, my parents, grandpa, and the flower girl and her mom took a limo to the church.

We didn't do much in the church as far as decorations. I really love how these initials turned out on the doors. We used real flowers, and they held up well given how hot it was. The ceremony went really well. A family friend sang Ave Maria, which was beautiful. The only "problem" was that H didn't know he was supposed to repeat one part during the exchange of rings, so we had a little awkward silence for a moment. Then I said "Dude, you're supposed to say that," and everyone laughed :) It was a really happy mass.

For pictures between the ceremony and reception, we went to H's family's restaurant and to my mom's best friend's house. We had martinis and some food at the restaurant, which was a nice little break. It was just SO HOT out, we were all miserable. Our photographers were awesome, though, and got pictures quickly and made sure we had plenty of breaks to get into the air conditioned limo or indoors.

The bridesmaids bouquets got a little droopy, haha. But I really loved them! Mine was SO heavy, I literally had cramps in my hand after all day.

That bracelet was my something blue.

Love this picture because it shows my earrings - I could not find any I liked, but saw a J Crew pair similar to this in an old catalog. They weren't available anymore, so I had a designer recreate them, with a few changes. I loved how they turned out. Perfect amount of sparkle :)

That "balcony" was actually just a flower box. Three stories up. Not scary at all!

For the reception, I took my veil off and switched out my plain ivory sash for a sparkly one. I also had a ruffly navy clutch that I loved. It was really soft, haha.

The big issue we had at the reception was the heat. I wanted the ceiling draped above the dance floor, but there was a mixup and the whole ceiling was draped. Well, that blocked a few of the air conditioning vents, so it was REALLY hot in the reception. I felt terrible, but no one seemed to mind. We had a big outdoor area that people went to once the sun went down and it cooled, and despite the heat people packed the dance floor all night. Our DJ did such a great job - so many people that never normally dance were all over the dance floor :)

We did a ton of flowers. I was afraid it would be overkill, but I think it turned out well. The lighting was not at all that purple and bright in real life. It was a really soft pinkish white.

We kept a ruffly theme going - some chairs had ruffles like this, some had chair covers with ruffles in the center, some had just one clump of ruffles at the top...I wanted all the chairs to be a little different. We did rectangular and circular tables.

The head table had a big draping of flowers across the front instead of regular arrangements. It went across the whole table, and down the sides. Obsessed!!

We wanted something different for the bar area. It was all sparkly and blue in there.

These were our table numbers. All the stationery coordinated - invitations, programs, escort cards, everything. I'm really happy with how those turned out, and was glad to get compliments on that stuff because I designed it all myself.

We had two of these flanking the head table.

Here you can see our menus, and more of the head table flowers.

Our cake was really all ivory, but somehow the coloring looks weird here. It was an all white cake with different fillings in each layer. Loved it! I wanted a piece of each flavor, but was way too stuffed from dinner. I still had a pretty big piece of raspberry filled cake, though :) The cake table was actually the same silver sequined cloths as in the bar, but they put a sheer navy cloth over it, so it kind of shimmered. It was beautiful, I wish it showed in this picture.

I had been up since 5 am, but was so full of energy all day. It was a great day over all, everyone had a ton of fun, and once I realized that everything was going well and that people were having fun, I relaxed and had a fantastic time :)
