Kauai what kind of rental car?

If we decide to do some sightseeing what kind of car should we get? Can we get away with a compact car or do we need a jeep wrangler? We plan on redeeming points on our cc for rental gift cards. One less expense even less. ;. Thank you in advance.

    We just had a Dodge Charger (it was surprisingly cheaper than the economy car).  There's not really anything you'll need to go 'off-road' for as far as the popular stops are concerned.  Not to mention that even if you do get a Jeep, the rental insurance will NOT cover anything if you take it off road, so if anything happens, you are 100% resposible for the full cost of the vehicle.  Go with the cheapest rental you can get, it's really all you need.  Besides, gas is ridiculous on the mainland, it's even more in Hawaii, so get something fuel efficient.

    We honeymooned on Kauai.  There are really only paved roads.  All the activity is on the water, beaches or hiking.
